Second time I have stayed at this property so that says something to start with.
Stayed here in January for my friends hen weekend, from the minute booking this Peter was very responsive to questions asked.
Upon arrival Peter greeted us and talked us through everything in the house including recycling etc.
I feel it is important to the review to mention the fact that the heating did go off during our first night here, although we were not aware of this until Peter came and told us, the house was still very warm from the night before, and it was snowing outside.
Peter kept us updated regularly on the progress of getting the heating back up and running, including letting us know that if it was not able to be fixed (which was unlikely) then he understood we would have to relocate and would provide a full refund.
All in all the heating was off a few hours, we were out in town during these hours and Peter had stayed and ensured the house was toasty warm for our arrival back, also waiting on the table was a lovely bunch of flowers and a bottle of prosecco for the bride to be for the inconvenience (even though it was no ones fault) which was a lovely touch. Peter also gave us a late check out free of charge.
It was unfortunate that the heating went off for those short hours but the service we were given from Peter during this was fab and totally out done our expectations.
The house had all necessities required for our weekend, we ordered two minibuses which came right up to cottage doors and took us into town, where we had a wonderful day.
All in all another great stay at Raygill, and I am sure we will be back again.
If there was one thing that could be improved would be the bond process, even something as little as been given a receipt for this.
Finding an accommodation for large groups at an affordable price can oft be difficult but Raygill was ideal for us. A group of 16 stayed for my mother-in-laws 70th for a weekend and you couldn't really fault it. The beds were comfortable, as was the furniture and there was plenty room for everyone to sit in the kitchen.
I feel that the welcome pack gives you some unwarranted concerns, there was always plenty hot water and we didn't experience any problems with pressure, the kitchen hot tap was a bit of a drag with the time taken to get any hot water. The rooms were basic but well adorned and the whole place is easy to clean at the end.
Tiny things could have been improved, e.g. The operator was not available when I arrived, which is fine (he was only to be an hour) and it didn't prevent us getting access. However I didn't feel 100% comfortable handing the cash security deposit to one of the farm workers (I believe the brother) without some sort of receipt, perhaps this could be adapted in some way? In any case that is more a procedural matter than anything to do with the accommodation which was great.
All in all excellent.
A group of 14 of us (8 adults, 1 teenager and 5 children) stayed at the cottage for New Year 2016. We had a brilliant time. There was plenty of space for everyone. The dining room had 2 tables and lots of chairs to allow us to sit together for all our meals. Plus the kitchen had everything we needed for a large group. The kids all adored the dogs owned by the owner and loved when they popped around to the courtyard outside the cottage during our stay. They also loved playing hide and seek in such a large house and really loved the loft room or what we called 'The Nanny McPhee room' upstairs with lots of beds. Will hopefully visit again sometime.
Good value and quality accommodation for a larger group. but they want 100 characters so I will just h
Stayed at Raygill Farm for the weekend for my friend 50th birthday with 10 friends, we arrived and Peter was there to great us and showed us around explained where everything is and if we needed anything to phone him.
The house is great for partying plenty of rooms we all loved it, we went into Barnard Castle on the saturday taxi was about £10 £15 for a mini bus which works out only couple of pound each, we used Hodgens and Ace had a great day there some great pubs got back to house on the night and carried on partying.
You do get the smell of the farm occasionally but that was not a problem as you are on a working farm.
Would defiantly recommend it for groups for whatever occasion and we will be back.

Peter communicated very quickly and clearly throughout the booking process and was happy to show us around each room when we arrived- which was very helpful!
The accommodation was perfect for our mixed group of 12 with large outdoor spaces and plenty of socialising room inside (big kitchen and living space)! We are a group who enjoy sport and Peter designated us a field to which we could crack on with football/rugby/rounders throughout the day!
Not far at all from Barnard castle, so easy to pop in for a pub lunch!
