“Sunday lunch visit. Nice but room for improvement.”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

Paid a visit for Sunday lunch around 3pm and the place was busy. The bar and dining area has a nice feel to it with pleasant staff.
My partner and I ordered a couple of drinks and because it was busy was told there would be approx 15 min wait.
Not a problem and as it was sunny we headed outside. We eventually got a table approx 45 mins later... something to bear in mind if you just turn up like we did.
The food was ok. Loved the starter of mushrooms in a sauce / bread. The main (lamb) was a bit of a let down. A bit stingy on the portion, and a bit on the fatty side and the one roast potato I got was so hard on the outside I couldn't cut through it. I did mention it to the waitress and she just laughed and said she'd pass it on.
Also something to note the Sunday lunch menu only offered 2 courses at £12.95.
If you only wanted a Sunday lunch only ( no starter, no desert)then I'm not too sure where you'd stand.
Overall a nice place to visit.

“Sunday lunch was nothing special”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

Not from the area.me and the boyfriend took a nice walk to barnard castle.looking for nice place for Sunday lunches, everywhere seems to finish at 2pm!!this place caught our eye very nice fresh clean building from the outside which had the same feeling throughout inside.looked newly decorated.very busy sunny afternoon..lvly furniture.pleasant staff.had to wait a while for food as everyone had the same idea as us two..wasnt a problem had drinks outside.table in the bar area 2 courses 12.95 .i had starter and the lamb Sunday lunch, could have just done with 1 course as Sunday lunches always fill me alone.never the less.starter nice pate, lamb dinner!!!hmmm sorry but got to be honest cuple of scrappy slices of fatty legs of lamb that I spat out and a rock hard roast potatoe..Yorkshire pudding was nice though..maybe it was getting late in the day and food was not at its best by 3pm.staff friendy, great atmosphere, seemed popular with the locals, very busy with drinkers and diners which is a good sign.nice seating area out the back..asked to view the bedrooms and was very impressed..very new,big and modern and not a bad price at all..might think of spending a night there.

“Lovely little find”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Myself and my husband simply walked past this place and decided to try it. I had the Belly Pork starter and my husband had the Brie. Both tasty and well cooked. Mains we had quiche and a cheese and chutney Ciabatta again both tasty- The chunky home cooked chips were lovely.
Would love to go back and try the evening menu. Lovely atmosphere in the bar, friendly staff and was quite busy. Clean and tidy decor.

Deffo a one to try.

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Went for dinner with friends. Warm evening and it was very busy so quite a relief to be seated In the air conditioned restaurant. Food was good nothing out of the ordinary but was acceptable. Menu could probably do with a few tweaks as it seemed very tomato based ie bruschetta, soup was also tomato etc and unfortunately the vegetarian option was a little uninspiring. My friends steak was reported as being very good quality and enjoyable,
