Stopped on the way back from the Bowes Museum. The town of Barnard Castle is so lovely, and this was a couple of minutes drive from Bowes. It was a busy day with lots of traffic but we got parked fairly easily almost right outside, and parking was free.
We ordered some very nice draught ale, spiced butternut squash soup and a cheese sandwich from the wide selection on the menu, which came with vegetable crisps and a little side salad. All v tasty and reasonably-priced. Staff were lovely and we were seen to promptly.
