“12 consecutive visits says it all”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

An excellent & comfortable cottage in a lovely country farm location. Comfortable and well fitted for both disabled and able bodied people. Hosts Alison and Keith are most helpful and hospitable, nothing is too much trouble.
We've just completed our 12th annual visit which speaks for itself as a recommendation.

“What an amazing find”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We have had an amazing week. The farm is a beautiful place to stay..a chance for us and our three children to relax and enjoy the countryside. A joy each day to see our three collect their own eggs for breakfast each morning watch the rabbits and horses in the fields behind and to see the stars at night. As townies something we rarely see due to all the street lighting. Reminds us of the things we regularly saw as children.Alison and Keith are such lovely hosts and the cottage had all we could need including lego xxx we hope will be able to stay again soon.

“A fantastic welcome at this home-from-home!”
Reviewed 19 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We booked this cottage as a last minute Easter getaway. What a gem we've found. From the first enquiries, Alison showed herself to be a fantastic host.

The cottage itself is fantastically comfortable with everything you could need for a lovely stay. Surrounded by farmland, it is a haven of peace and quiet, but at the same time is near attractions and amenities to make the stay fun for everyone. The cottage also has a great wi-fi connection - a necessity when taking away teens!

Alison and Keith were exceptionally welcoming, especially to the children, involving them in farm life, collecting eggs, playing football with the sheepdog and feeding lambs. They could not have been more thrilled, and standing watching lambs being born is something they'll never forget!

What a great place! We hope to be back soon!

Bless you so much. Keith and I can't thank you enough for coming here and sharing in what we do.
To know that we impart even a small portion of our love for farming and animal husbandry is enough but to find equally minded people is a blessing.
We hope to see you all again soon.
Good luck with the Lego and art projects :-)
Regards,
Alison & Keith

“Cosy, quiet getaway”

I stayed at Swallows Nest for a weekend as a guest of my brother who stays there every year and used to take my children when they were younger.
The cottage is a 'home from home' with welcoming touches like the hand picked flowers on the table.
The hospitality of Alison and Keith was second to none - welcoming but not intrusive.
The location is lovely for a quiet getaway. Cockfield Fell is just across the road and a lovely route for running - leave your MP3 player behind - just take in the country sounds and when you get to the top turn round and admire the scenery.

“Wonderful 'Home from home' cottage and in good, quiet surroundings”

Swallows Nest is a wonderful cottage and in a small hamlet not too far from a village. Having been there 15 times already, I can honestly say it is a real 'home from home' cottage. The facilities are suitable for able bodied and disabled people with the exception of the bathroom off the twin room.

The accommodation has a master bedroom at one end with a walk-in shower from it. From here to the sitting room with TV, DVD player and radio, books and games for children. The kitchen is equipped with cooker and hob, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and plenty crockery for cooking meals. Onto the twin room with single beds and from here, down a few steps into the bathroom. The cottage is converted farm outbuildings and has been done to a very high standard maintaining the original external features. There is a small garden with barbecue facilities. The cottage is well maintained and kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and serviceability. Any issues are quickly resolved by your very amenable hosts, Alison and Keith.

Its location is in a quiet valley and ideally suited for local walks. Nearby is Hamsterley Forest with walking and cycling trails and picnic sites. Ideally situated for trips to many varied attractions both near and further.

Having stayed so many times, I think it goes without saying that I would highly recommend this as a good get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
