We had a great time on a two day KGB break - which we thought was excellent value! We had room 4 which was fantastic and is of a very high standard. We ate both nights in the restaurant and it was great - good food well presented and plenty of it. The hotel is in a great location nestled between the lakes and the yorkshire dales so. There is no shortage of things to do. Would highly recommend and will be going back.

Room Tip: Room 4 is lovely, but also heard from other guests that the rooms in the main building were also nice.

We stayed here for two nights on a kgb deal and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything about our stay was good, the room, the food, the hosts, The location was lovely and quiet but with our car we could visit the area in more detail.Would recommend.

We have just returned from a weekend break at the Sandford Arms with friends. We stayed in room 3 and was well pleased. The room is in the main building and is quite large although the bathroom is a little on the small side but fit for it's purpose but could do with a bit more shelving for toiletries etc. It's a family run business and I have to give them their due, they were all lovely and friendly and were only to happy to help out. Stephen did the cooking and I must say all the food was excellent. The breakfast was huge and even the men struggled to finish it. If I have to be picky, we returned one evening around five o'clock and couldn't get in. The door was locked and the door-bell missing, after banging on the door for a while we were eventually let in by a lady staying in one of the barn conversions when we knocked on her door to find out if there was another way in. Other than this we had a lovely stay and would go again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 which we were happy with. Our friends stayed in room 4 which was more modern and had a larger bathroom but a smaller bedroom but both were good.

We stayed two nights on a KGB deal in room 4."The Sandford Arms" is easy to find off the A66 with Sandford village and the hotel itself being clearly signposted.
The room was very attractive and clean being in a recently converted barn. The hotel is very pleasant with good beer and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal the first night of our stay.Staff are very welcoming and pleasant.
We had read reviews of room 4 and were pleased to be given it but we were disappointed however with the bathroom - no electric shaver point, a shower unable to give a constant temperature for any length of time and when we had baths the following night instead of struggling over the shower for a second time the bath side fell off as soon as there was a covering of water in the bath. I pointed these out to the young girl left to run the hotel by herself.
She was also left to cope with breakfast which was nicely served but she clearly had problems with the cooked items which were pretty awful and covered in burnt remnants from the frying pan.
We would have given a "Good" rating rather than "very good" but Tripadvisor doesn't include this category but we did enjoy our stay and would certainly return to a different room and hopefully a chef on hand to cook breakfast.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel, taking advantage of a "KGB" voucher promotion. We found the hotel to be ideally placed a few miles out of Appleby in a lovely quiet spot. Our room was modern, spacious, very well appointed and presented. Our deal included a free bottle of wine, so we dined one night at the hotel and found the food very good and reasonably priced. Breakfasts were also excellent, All the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We chose this hotel because it was quoted as dog friendly and this is certainly the case. Our golden Retriever, Molly , was made extremely welcome and received regular treats from the staff! We will definitely return here and will be more than happy to pay the full price next time. Thoroughly recommended.
