“A LOVELY WEEKEND”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Stayed at the Sandford Arms with a KGB offer. Rooms are lovely and very nicely decorated. As are the bathrooms. The standard of food is very high. Overall it's lovely pub with excellent bed and breakfast facilities.

came across the Sandford Arms on our walk from Warcop. The real ale and food were superb and the lady serving behind the bar was lovely and friendly. the inside has been done really nice, as are the loo's and there was a group in the back, so plenty of space for family and friends. We're tax hinting of going back to stay as it's a lovely area for walking along the river Eden. However, the beer garden is full of dog poo! It's awful I can't understand it, why do they leave it?? It must be the pubs dog, why don't they clean it up? Such a shame. otherwise a lovely place.. please clean it up!

This place is lovely for food and really friendly and welcoming but I'm afraid the dog poo all over the beer garden is disgusting and eating outside is a no no. Not sure if it's from visiting dogs or the owners own but it was like that on opening time. Such a shame as otherwise couldn't fault it. All it needs is a poop scoop daily to ensure its clean for children etc. it would greatly improve the area. Perhaps also a sign for other users to clean up after their dogs.

We went online and we looked for somewhere with peace and quiet, countryside, nice food and somewhere affordable. We booked the sandford arms and we got all of this, and more.

The rooms were spotless, they look much better in real life than on the photos!
The breakfast was brilliant: juice, hot drinks, full English breakfasts, cereals, toast- and it all tasted delicious. The staff were all lovely and the bar prices were fine.

We stayed for two nights and on the second night we ate dinner in the restaurant. We were greeted with a free bottle of wine and the food was excellent.

We are a young couple and have travelled to many places/hotels and this place is just what you need if you are looking for a chilled out romantic break.

This is a lovely hotel. We stayed for a weekend. The food is lovely, the breakfast is spectacular! the staff are very welcoming. The only negative comment I can leave is that they need to clean the filter in the vacuum cleaner as it smelt a bit doggy in the mornings when the cleaning was being done.

Just back from a two night stay at this hotel and have read other reviews all I can say is that the owners must be suffering from being busy, they were not very welcoming. The food in the evenings was reasonable, as was breakfast. Room was fine so no real complaints. Only really memorable thing about our break was meeting a lovely couple from Sheffield who we spent very pleasant time chatting to. The young waitress was also more friendly and the cleaning lady who was the only one around when we left was kind enough to wish us a safe journey home, owners were nowhere in sight.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms to pick and our was fine.

Had a 2-night break in April 2014. Fabulous setting, very comfortable room (room 3), excellent food. Met others enjoying a similar break and wish we'd exchanged email addresses! Great base to see a large area of wonderful countryside and good market towns. Would recommend for a 'get away from it all' break.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms, so very little to choose between them!
