We booked this B & B on the strength of the other Trip Advisor comments and were not at all disappointed. Having travelled with friends to Appleby for the first time on the Settle-Carlisle railway, we were met at the station by our host David, who kindly took our overnight bags from us, then drove us to the start of our 8 mile walk! When we returned to Appleby later in the day (in pouring rain!) he once more collected us and took us to Bank End House. Both Jackie and David are wonderful hosts and go out of their way to provide everything needed by their guests - and more! The rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast excellent, and the evening meal delicious (Jackie, how do you achieve such wonderful roast potatoes?!). The location is peaceful and quiet, though only one mile from Appleby and both Jackie and David are extremely knowledgeable about the local area, providing useful tips on where to eat, drink and walk. We would highly recommend this to anyone - and hopefully will be making a return visit ourselves!
