“Lovely idyllic country retreat”
Reviewed 15 October 2017 for a stay in August 2017

My husband and I stayed in the Garden Cottage for about 10 days. We were warmly welcomed by Kay and Andy, a lovely couple. They were very generous, helpful, and friendly. The cottages are in a beautiful & quiet setting, surrounded by green countryside, but close enough to drive to Appleby, Orton and other lovely villages. The cottage was thoroughly clean and comfortable, and as a barn conversion has lots of wonderful character but also all the mod cons you expect. We were even treated to a visit by a red squirrel in a nearby tree. We so enjoyed our stay here, it's a shame we don't live in England so that we could visit again.

“Lovely cottage with relaxing surroundings”
Reviewed 10 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from Kay. Garden Cottage was above and beyond our expectations. It was lovely and everything you could wish for to chill and relax in peaceful and charming surroundings. Kay had thought of everything needed within the cottage with everything provided and thought of. This is a little gem and will definitely be returning.

“Stunning and peaceful”
Reviewed 8 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The cottage is so pretty and cosy. Very clean and well equipped. A home made cake and tea greeted us on our arrival. The hosts were very welcoming. There are lots of walks from the cottage and wildlife every where. There are lots of quant villages, and plenty of places to eat. The food in the local pubs is out standing. Our holiday was peaceful, relaxing, and just far enough away from the commercial bustle of then lakes.

We spent three nights at this wonderful cottage and the photographs in the advert do not do it justice.
The owner (Kay) was there to meet us on arrival and was very helpful and friendly. Tea, coffee and a cake were already in the kitchen area awaiting our arrival, a lovely touch.
The gardens around the cottage were beautiful and teaming with wildlife, though unfortunately on our visit we did not see the Red Squirrels or Deer.
There are plenty of beautiful small villages in the area with Inns that provide excellent meals from locally sourced meat and veg. Meals are very good value too.
Kay has provided guest packs in the cottage which has places to visit, local walks, places to eat etc.
I would definitely recommend this cottage to couples who are looking for a quiet, romantic weekend together.
