“Very comfortable house in a good location with an excellent pub within walking distance serving good food & drink.”
Reviewed 11 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We got a warm welcome from Carole the owner, along with a very nice welcome pack. The house was very comfortable, warm, clean, & very well stocked with essential equipment. Lots of local walks & about a mile from Appleby. We stayed there @ NY, it was an added bonus watching the excellent firework display @ Appleby castle, to welcome in the New Year. I would recommend the property, it is a good base to explore Westmorland which is a lovely part of the country.

As a keen traveller, I have stayed in many different holiday lettings, but this has been far the most welcoming, comfortable, and has everything you could ever wish for. Ideally located with views towards the lake district and The Dales, Lots of things to do, right from your doorstep, from walking, shopping, cycling, great walks for dogs, and great pubs that serve delicious food. The Royal Oak was one of our favorite, and only 5 minutes walk away.
Carole the owner, was there to meet us at the barn, and very welcoming. The beds are comfortable, with plenty of seating to comfortably sit 6 adults and a dog. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone and we will return, as 4 days wasn't long enough to see and take in the beauty surrounding The Barn.

“Wonderful break in a beautiful Cottage”
Reviewed 17 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

From the very start this was a lovely relaxing holiday. Booking directly with the owner, via Tripadvisor, was so easy, with Carole answering every email promptly and courteously.
First impressions mean a lot, and this is certainly the case here - the cottage looks beautiful as you drive up to it, set in a small close with lovely views and the countryside within a few meters.
Once inside the "wow" factor continues - the whole cottage is beautifully set out, clean and well decorated, with everything you could hope for in a self-catered holiday. Warm and comfortable in every way.
The cottage is a short walk from the river, the town centre, and a local pub. Appleby is a lovely place to visit, with idyllic walks along the banks of the river that encircles the town on 3-sides. From the cottage, the Yorkshire Dales are just a short walk away - with several circular walks nearby that can be reached without having to use the car.
Thank you Carole for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage.

“Comfortable well equipped cottage”
Reviewed 9 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Lovely holiday home on the edge of Appleby in easy reach of great pubs serving good food, the Settle to Carlisle railway and amazing scenery with walks to suit all. Carole and Ron were very helpful with great tips on where to eat and things to do. We will definitely return.

A lovely fiendly welcome at Twazabarn by Carole. This barn has everything you can think of. We even arrived to a few lovely treats. Peaceful surroundings and a fantastic log fire. Loved the special touches like the boardgames too. Will definitely go back.
