Pretty poor experience. 50 odd quid for 2 adults and a child. Still reeling from that! Must say we were all thoroughly underwhelmed by what we saw. For example, the shark centre had sharks in it that were not much bigger than some of the gold fish in my pond! ... And talk about smoke and mirrors... Lensed glass in the tank to make everything look bigger! The tower is part of the ticket but to get there you have to take public transport, or a cab or the sea life road train. Beware the road train is another £1.50 each ONE WAY and amazingly no thought has been given to towelling down the seats on a rainy day so you end up having to sit in a puddle for your trouble. Totally unacceptable! I think this place is part of theTussaud Group. If so I am staggered and they really should be ashamed. Unless you've got discounted tokens I really would say do not bother. And bring a towel or a plastic bag to sit on on the road train if it's raining! No real positives to report although the staff were very helpful and friendly. Will not be back.

Dear Jason B,

Thanks for your recent review of Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park. I am sad to read that you were 'underwhelmed' on your day out with us. We have over 1,000 creatures from black tip reef sharks, sea turtles, otters, penguins and rays to name but a few. We have different ages of sharks in different tanks.

Our ocean tunnel tank is a very popular feature and we have adult black tip reef sharks in here along with our 4 resident sea turtles, mangrove whiptail stingrays, moray eels and other varieties of fish.

The Tower is included in your ticket for up to 14 days afterwards and many people stroll along the seafront from the Park to the Tower on a sunny day to visit. There is a car park at the Tower so you are able to continue your day from there.

Best wishes
Lucy

I'll start by saying that the park is lovely and worth the entrence fee when you buy online. It is at least 3-4 hours entertainment, which is excellent. Would be more for those with children older than 2 years old.

First off the negitive points. Firstly I don't believe smoking points have any place in any park aimed at children, nor on the map as I don't wish to explain such a habbit to my child. Many other parks have phased these out and clearly state that smoking is only permitted off site. Secondly the notice of the seals being away for a month wasn't very promient on the website when I booked early April. Thirdly the park feels as though it needs a general update and perhaps another exhibit. Finally the ticket price is on the high side when the train is not included, yet the tower is included. Why would anyone want to drive down to the tower and park again?

On the positive side the park was bigger then we expected, well laid out, great for children - really informative as well with thought out access for little ones. I liked the good balance between a few rides and exhibits, really good. Even the cafes had simple food choices which were nice and some good coffee - key for parents of tiny tots who love to keep you on your toes! Would go again.

Finally - the person running the seals ride was brilliant.

Dear chrisjbritton,

Thanks for your recent review of Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park. I'm pleased you enjoyed your day with us overall and hope you managed to use your Tower part of the ticket too.

Thanks for your feedback, we take all comments on board for future planning. We have smoking areas to minimise the effects on other visitors and strongly direct them here because of this.

The Tower has a car park so you are free to continue your day on from there or choose to use that part of the ticket up to 14 days afterwards. Our seals are currently on holiday and will be back at the end of May so I hope you'll come and see their new feature then.

As you can appreciate the south coast was particularly battered in the recent storms and the Park was affected by this weather but every effort has been made to tidy, clean and make the Park presentable to guests.

I hope we can welcome you back soon!

Best wishes
Lucy

Not what I expected thought it was like a sea life centre, it was better in a way as most was outside. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Area with rides for younger children, arcade not really up to much. Would recommend a visit even take a picnic although there is a restaurant on site.

We visited here with three children aged 10,13. & 15 & had a good trip here. There are several zones with different sea life in each. The exhibits themselves are great & suitable for all ages with well spaced " hand on" quiz type questions & activities. The add on of a passport to be stamped at each station/area was also a motivator for completing the zones. If we had younger children & it had been a hot day we would definitely have used the splash zone area. We listened to a few of the staff during the set feeding times etc which were very informative & we loved being able to touch the starfish etc.
The " downside" of the centre is definitely the gift shop & cafe. The shop is too small. As there was a bonus for completing the passport challenge the queue was a mix of children wanting their reward & those trying to purchase goods. Unfortunately, the queue was so long it was almost impossible to look around the shop itself. The cafe was also small and had a very limited menu, which was rather " pricey" for very basic meals. So we left to buy lunch at a wonderful beachside cafe about half a mile away!

My 11 year old daughter and I had a day trip to Weymouth yesterday and thought the sea life centre would be good for a couple of hours.

Having paid the £34 entrance fee (still reeling from that) and consequently declining the £2.50 guide, was then told there were no seals to see as they were being packed off somewhere for their enclosure to renovated.

Firstly we entered the cafe for a quick coffee (which was OK) but there was little else on offer and they couldn't even manage to produce a glass of milk for my daughter.

Next found a penguin but none visible through the underwater window!

The turtle sanctuary was quite interesting and then on to the underwater tunnel. Asked if we wanted to 'have some fun' before we entered (a vain attempt to extract some more money from us for a photograph), in we went. The tunnel was effective and fascinating but smaller than expected and the large fish (skates, rays and sharks) seemed to be a bit crowded in my opinion.

Having done that, a go on the Croc Creek water splash ride (quite good), a look at the otters and a go on the 'win a prize ball throw' (£2 for 2 balls) we completed the tour in about an hour. There were a few other things but either seemed closed, dark or distant. The girl minding the 'splash zone' for obligatory health and safety reasons looked bored out of her mind (well as nobody was going to use it because it was cold and drizzly, you could hardly blame her).

So in summary - way over priced and tired. OK there was the observation tower included in the price, which if you were staying for days, as it was about a mile away, might make it slightly better value.

I know keeping animals is an expensive business but there are many better and reasonably priced places - e.g. Monkey World and the Seal sanctuary at Gweek are good examples of how to do it.

This place needs to get its act together or it will be 'no more' in a year or 2!

Dear Paul T

Thanks for your recent review of Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park.

With over 1,000 creatures from sea turtles, sharks, crocodiles, rays, otters, penguins and much more, the Park takes a good 3 hours to cover with 9 feeding times and talks taking place throughout the day.

Our seals are actually at Gweek Seal Sanctuary as it is one of our sister sites and will be back at the end of May.

We have 11 Humboldt penguins who are visible from the top and really entertaining during feeding time as they all line up waiting for their fish, so it was a shame you weren't able to witness this.

The Croc Creek is really popular and there are 4 other rides located in Adventure Island. It's a shame that you weren't able to experience the Tower as the views are breathtaking. The ticket is valid for up to 14 days after your visit to the Park.

Best wishes
Lucy
