Weymouth beach is great, soft white sand and very safe for children, lots of lifeguards, and very reasonable deck chair and lounger hire, such a big beach with plenty of room for the children to play and dig. Water is lovely and clean with safe bathin. A great place to go for a day trip or a hoilday.

I live in Weymouth so may be a bit biased! We have lovely clean sand that is perfect for castle building, and the gently sloping beach is safe for swimming. If it's too cold for sitting on the beach you can take a bracing walk along the sand or the promenade and warm up with a coffee stop - there are lots of places to eat and drink or buy ice-cream. In the summer there are donkeys, Punch and Judy shows and swing boats on the beach, and all year round there are amusements and a sand sculpture exhibit. Add to that the regular spectacular firework displays over the bay and you have a perfect excuse to visit Weymouth at any time of the year.

As many people have said, the beach is a fine stretch of sand. It doesn't seem to have moved on from the 1950s with donkey rides, deck chairs etc. Great if you like nostalgia. The Olympics have added one or two new features to the town. Not a place to linger, however.
