The site is very clean and well kept.
The bar looked very nice, however we did not use it as we were out in the evening.
We paid £3 for 24 hours of wifi, which didn't really work. When it did it was so slow I could have sent quicker by carrier pigeon!
The never ending list of rules is the longest I have ever seen! Although complying with them was not a major issue for my husband and I, i do feel that if we were to return with our family they would have much more fun at a more easy going site. Incidentally, as a couple in our late fifties, I do love to hear the sound of people enjoying themselves, including children and teenagers.
However, my main gripe is those cold showers! This is simply not acceptable at the price charged per night. The site was empty so no excuse. My husband did mention this at the shop. Initially they denied there was anything wrong but after a while they said we should use the old block as that gets warmer, so clearly they did know ther was a problem!
The site is in a fantastic location and the area around is beautiful.
Three messages to the management.
1) you need better signage at the main road. I am sure this would give you passing trade too!
2) fix the showers! People will be less inclined to return or recommend when the shower are icy cold!
3) be grateful for negative comments as they are a gift to you! It's the only way you can know what you need to do to improve your service. Listen to them, take them on board and make changes to improve. You replies on here may be doing more harm than the comment itself!!!

Thanks for your comments and sorry that you felt the showers were cold. We have received one complaint from a customer this week that the showers were cold for a short while, but then ran hot again. This can be an issue caused by long pipe runs and modern, pump fed showers, but tends not to be an issue with the older gravity fed units. On the issue of the park rules and noise, after many years of operation, we have found that the vast majority of our customers, especially those with children, expect to be able to enjoy a good night's sleep when they are on holiday, undisturbed by the noise and behaviour of others. Most licensed parks and the main camping and caravanning organisations have similar terms and conditions for their visitors and, we find, it is what the majority of our customers expect - which is why we operate and promote a "quiet nights policy". We have found it helps to keep the park popular and enjoyable for all.

Wish we had looked at reviews before going. Nice site but let down by rude owners who even talk to their staff in the most appauling way! Definitely not a place to go if you want any fun...they appear to not know the meaning of the word! Other staff members (especially cleaners) were very friendly. Park was quite empty even though there was an event in Weymouth this weekend...found out this was due to the bad reputation the owners have...people tend not to return! Such a shame could be a lovely place if the right people ran it!

Thanks for your comments. West Fleet Holiday Farm is a popular family camping park which welcomes many hundreds of visitors every year, including many families with small children. The park operates a well-publicised "quiet nights" policy and has done for years. A very small minority of customers sometimes need to be reminded that they are disturbing other quests.

The park owners expect all customers to register with reception on arrival, before pitching their tents, and to pay all fees due as agreed at the time of booking. Customers who pitch without registering will be reminded that they need to do so, either in person or by the attachment of "reminder" ticket to the tent or vehicle.

Well where do I begin! The site itself is beautiful and clean. But the lady in charge (sarah) is rude, abnoxious and lacked basic customer service skills. Not to mention the do-gooder who comes around and checks everything in the evenings. He was also rude and a complete jobsworth. You're not allowed inflatables or any balls in the pool, no jumping at all, not to mention their sign asking you not to wear much suncream in the pool. You're not allowed to make any noise after 11pm. THIS PLACE IS NOT GOOD FOR FAMILIES OR GROUPS!!! It put a complete downer on our holiday :-( and we will never return!!!

West Fleet is visited by hundreds of families every year and the vast majority have a safe and enjoyable stay. The pool rules are similar to those for most public swimming baths - no inflatables, no ball games (this is to prevent small children and others from being hit in the face or elsewhere whilst trying to enjoy their swim) and no running, diving or bombing (this to prevent head or spinal injuries). Many public pools now have a "shower before entry" policy to ensure that water quality stays hygienic and clear for all users. As most sun creams are oil based they are not suitable for use when swimming. The park welcomes many families with small children each year and they expect to have a good night's sleep without being disturbed by noisy neighbours. For this reason the park has operated a well-publicised "quiet nights" policy for many years. Those who are noisy after 11 pm are likely to be reminded not to disturb others - the park has found that it is preferable for all concerned if such reminders come from the park staff rather than from customers who have themselves been disturbed. Those requiring reminders about late night noise make up far less than 1 per cent of the park's customers. The camping market is a diverse one and clearly this wasn't the park for you. That said, most licensed parks and the major camping organisations in this country set limits on late night noise and in the USA and Canada, many State camping areas have similar requirements backed by law and a system of hefty fines. We wish you well in finding a site that suits your particular requirements, as I'm sure would 99+ per cent of our other customers ;-)

We stayed here as a family group with three pitches, it was perfect. We were all next to each other. The camp site is clean, the shop well stocked the outdoor pool lovely and warm and the Ribeye steak an absolute treat. We got really bad rain on the first night, which if you're regular campers you'll know is not fun, so we ate in the club house on the Friday - great place, spacious, clean, great food, between the 11 of us, there was no complaints. There's also a small arcade area with prizes the kids can actually win! the location is perfect for leisurely strolls down to the fleet lagoon, the information given on check in is very informative. Very quiet at night.
the showers are always clean, there is 2 family bathrooms, again very clean. we just loved this site, and will be definitely visiting again before the summer is out.

My goodness, where shall I begin. The site seemed okay on arrival, the facilities were reasonably clean.......but that's it I'm afraid. The problem started when the owner went beserk because kids were playing "it" on the (empty) dancefloor during the kiddies disco. Now this "clubhouse" isn't posh, it's basically a barn with carpet which had a kiddies disco on for entertainment, so you'd think the kids could run about a bit right? No, that would be fun, and fun is NOT allowed here. This woman had already verbally abused another poor lady from the midlands with the most disgusting language I've heard from a woman and in front of children too. We packed up and left.

The Clubhouse at West Fleet was completely rebuilt in 2012 and is no longer the old, and much loved, "Bar in the Barn", but a purpose built, modern facility, complete with big screen TVs and CCTV throughout. Children remain the responsibility of their parents whilst on site, but when staff make reasonable requests for parents to moderate the behaviour of their children, so that they are not clambering over tables, running around inside, trespassing on private property outside, disturbing other guests, putting themselves and others at risk of injury, there is a reasonable expectation that parents will co-operate. Should this not happen, especially at night after the bar has closed, customers can expect to be asked to leave the premises - and they are legally obliged to do so immediately on request without argument.

In performing their duties, the park's staff should not be confronted with aggressive, abusive or violent behaviour. They should not be insulted, sworn at , be jostled, threatened or shoved. The park does not consider this to be either normal or acceptable behaviour, on the contrary, the park owners and others define it as disorderly behaviour.

The park's code of orderly conduct is very clearly set out. Those who fall short of its requirements can expect to be required to leave not just the bar, but the entire park either immediately or, at the park owners' discretion, the following morning with or without the assistance of other authorities as necessary.

In such circumstances all customers who were part of, or associated with, family groups behaving in this way, will find themselves barred from this park and others in the area.

The park is grateful to the two main family groups involved in this incident for persisting with their unjustified negative reviews, as it provides an opportunity for the park to explain to others who think behaving in this way is acceptable that they should holiday elsewhere - the park and its other customers would be most grateful if they would.

What these reviewers may not be aware of, is that several members of their own family groups did have the good grace to apologise the following morning for their behaviour and that of others in their family. Sadly for them and their children, there were insufficient numbers of them to reverse the park owners' decision that they should all be required to leave, and so they were!

We turned up at around 6.30 for a two night stay in a tent as a couple and checked in at reception.

The lady was lovely and even phoned the bar up the road for us to see how long they would be open. She also told us that they would be opening the pool the following day as a group of young lads had asked.

The site had got a bit boggy due to poor weather and madness from half term however there were only 3 other groups there so she happily pointed us to a drier spot.

They have multiple shower blocks, one being modern and well beyond expected standards, even with a hairdryer for the ladies! Showers takes a while to warm up but to be expected when I was the first one using them in the morning!

All Facilities on site were excellent and it was great to have the night guard as extra security. He was not intrusive at all and we sat watching our Ipad until late in our tent and he never once disturbed us.

Our second night we headed up the hill to the Red Barn, a brilliant bar and grill. We got chatting to them and they had said that the previous week the poor guys at West Fleet had been verbally abused when asking a large family to keep the noise levels down after complaints! They even had to call the police to deal with the abusive family but it was all dealt with extremely well (albeit a few disgruntled trip advisor reviews - please ignore them!).

I highly recommend this campsite. Excellent amenities, comfortable stay and very welcoming people!

I've read all of the excuses for poor interpersonal relations with the staff, and my last post was removed, I guess for the expletives I mentioned that the owner blatantly came out with to almost everyone in the bar on Friday night, I also mentioned the warden who creeps around this site, waiting to pounce on anyone who even is awake chatting even when being quiet, the excuses were met with "barbecues should not be lit nor placed within a tent" !!!!!! We didn't have have a BBQ fire or anything in tents whatsoever so why come out with this garb, look at all the management responses please to any complaint, these people will not take any blame, as for the verbal abuse suffered by us all in the disco for lots of children on the dance floor..... Well it was advertised as just that from a so called family camp site, how can this woman be so abusive with several expletives of go away without any apology at all.

Threatening behaviour is not acceptable in any forum. Nor is the use of BBQs in enclosed spaces. Members of family groups who are repeatedly cautioned about disturbing other guests, disorderly behaviour or for having BBQs in enclosed spaces (especially with children inside) can expect to be barred from the premises. Unlike some parks we do allow family groups, but it is a condition of such bookings that if any member(s) of the group breaks the terms and conditions of the booking (for example by repeatedly disturbing other guests at night), all will be expected to leave. During the week in question, of several hundred visitors on the park at night, our staff had cause to speak to only two families with regard to noise at night (and excessive noise during the day) and then in response to complaints from several other guests who were being disturbed. When responding to such complaints our staff have a right not to be sworn at or told they are being "jobs-worths". It is the reasonable expectation of the park owners and their other customers that when asked to be quiet or to extinguish BBQs by the time specified in the terms and conditions of booking, customers will act responsibly in the interests of the enjoyment of other customers. Similarly, when customers are asked to leave the bar because it is closing or for any other reason, the park owners, and the law, expect customers to do so graciously, without a tirade of verbal abuse and certainly without any pushing or shoving of staff.
