Food here is hot, quick and tasty. But if you are after something a little special then this is not the place for you. Staff and very casually dressed, run between the bar and the kitchen and left our plates for a long time before taking them away. However the food was good and we left happy.

We went there for my Mum's birthday - a party of 12 of us on Bank Holiday Monday (26 May).

What surprised when we got there at 1pm in the afternoon the place was virtually empty - it was at most 10% full and at it's maximum about 25% full in the restaurant.

The food was generally ok, but the thing that ruined our please of the experience was that the service was SHOCKINGLY BAD. We had all arrived at 1pm and we ordered at 1.30pm. Despite the place being practically empty, it took until 2.30pm for us to be told our food was being plated up - so those of us having carvery went to get them expecting the rest of the dinners to arrive when we got back to the table. They eventually arrived 25 minutes later, by which time those having carvery were finished their meal. In addition at least 3 of the other meals delivered were wrong.

The staff serving also had a poor attitude - they were fully aware how long we had waited and yet no apology, no checking whether everything was ok. It was hardly as if they were rushed off their feet.

It is such a pity as it is a nice pub in nice grounds - but judging by recent reviews needs to buck up it's ideas if it wants to attract future clientele. I certainly would think twice about going there again.

I found this pub very friendly and welcoming. We got a table despite not booking and got tickets for the carvery. The choice was beef, turkey and pork.
The beef and pork were both dry and the veg had been sitting there for some time. Still it tasted ok.
As the placed filled up and started to get harder and harder to get served, so some extra staff would be good.
All in all it was ok, but would try other places first before heading back there.

Stopped in on the way back from a Good Friday road trip, it felt it was close to Easter Monday by the time we got out! It used to be one of the top pub / family restaurants in the area but it is now an absolute dive. The wait for food was eternal with not so much as a warning or an apology from the staff but that was probaly largely due to the fact they just don't communicate with customers. Don't expect them to make contact with you, you place your order by accosting one of the staff as the walk by. Order wine by the number on the wine list, they struggle to pronounce grigio. To be fair, once it finally arrived the food was not too bad, I've had worse but then maybe I was just so hungry we would have eaten anything.
Having sat in a hovel for a coupe of hours, been ignored for most of that time, had some paltes cleared away whilst others were still eating I was astonished that the staff looked dispappointed that we did not leave a tip. The only tip we can offer - don't go there, drive on by.

What a complete let down! We have visited this pub often in the past always a very busy place with friendly staff, good food and a play area for our children to run off energy, our last visit however the pub was practically empty the service was very poor, as was the food and condiments also some members of staff were rude and chose to play on the fruit machines than serve the few customers that were there! Overall horrible time ruined what had been a lovely family day out will never go here again.
