The Crown hotel is a great place to stay while in Weymouth. The location is very close to the harbour, shops and restaurants and only a short walk from the esplanade. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant and it was clear that their intention was to see that each guest had a good stay.
Unusually, for a hotel bar, this hotel has a real bar that is almost equivalent to a local pub. There was a good selection of beers and it was comfortable and used by locals as well as visitors. The restaurant also offered a good selection of dishes at reasonable prices.
I had to take one point off for the room. It was comfortable, clean and of an adequate size. The facilities were good, strong Internet signal, a small work area, comfortable bed, tea/coffee, excellent shower etc. but it was always too hot. The room faced south and received sunshine for much of the day and got very warm. If I could have left the window open at night it probably would have cooled down nicely but the location is very noisy and, on Friday and Saturday nights, the noise outside my room was continuous until almost 4 AM. When the window was closed it was effective at keeping the room quiet but, without air conditioning, it was uncomfortably hot. Neither the warm weather nor the outside noise is under the control of the hotel and they did provide a small fan in the room to help with the problem but I just did not sleep particularly well.
At a cooler time of year this would have been a perfect place to saty.
