Stayed 4 nights. Hotel in process of being updated. Our room (14) was clean and although the room & bathroom needed a makeover it was quite acceptable for standard of hotel. Plenty of hot water and fab fluffy towels. Food and service at Hotel was excellent. Very good standard of entertainment provided every night. Location great - directly opposite promenade & lovely beach & well within walking distance of harbour, shops, bars and restaurants. Also within walking distance of bus and train station. Would consider returning to this hotel in the future. I would rate this Hotel a very good 2 star to 3 star Hotel

Our room was spotlessly clean but there was no ventilation which resulted in it becoming like a hot house in the night. The hot water eventually arrived after running the tap for about five minutes. On arrival and for four days we only had a black and white television. We complained to the manager and in fairness on our last full day there he installed a new flat screen tv which was excellent. The most disappointing aspect of our holiday was the food. Whilst the breakfast was quite good the evening meals were a bit of a disasater, very very little vegitables all week, small portions of food and on the last evening there the majority of the holiday makers complained that their meal was cold, one person found it totally inedable. The two girls who attended to our tables were excellent, very friendly and a joy to meet.

Room Tip: The manager is in the process of carrying out much needed renovations

Thank you so much for taking time to review your stay with us. We are delighted you found the cleanliness of the room and the service good and I will pass on your positive impressions to our super staff Karla, Pippa and Mercedes who run our restaurant. I am sorry you found the food not as much to your liking. Since your stay we have recruited two new chefs and we are currently reviewing our menu. We pride ourselves on home made food and generous portions and we must ensure this is what we deliver consistently. We sincerely hope you come and stay with us again and will see for yourself the improvements we are making in all areas of the hotel. With best wishes Michelle Tempest

Arrived as part of a coach trip to be told the hotel had changed ownership, the new owner was on holiday, and the elderly father was holding the fort.

He, his lady companion and the staff did their best to make us feel welcome, but if it wasn't for the fact we were there as a jolly group, I think the atmosphere would have been very cold and in the drab and neglected surroundings would have been awful.

All areas need attention. The bedrooms are a disgrace, cramped, the light fitting was hanging of the wall in room 24... No mattress protector. Small, dirty bathroom, the Lino was curled and dusty, the bath panel was cracked and there was very little storage.

To get to the window you had to climb on the bed.

The food was good, though 6 pm for evening meal was a bit early in my opinion.

It's a shame that the hotel can't make more of its excellent setting in the esplanade, right by the centre of Weymouth and a short walk to the harbour. Perhaps the new owners have plans for renovation? In my opinion they will need deep pockets to make it work.

Unfortunately I see this place destined to be stayed in by unsuspecting coach trip visitors who know no better until they arrive and then end up posting poor reviews like this one.

Thanks for your feedback about The Leam Hotel. We take all guests comments seriously and as you point out we got the keys for the hotel that week from the previous owners and were quite honest in our welcome speech that 'there is quite a lot to do'! Most of the guests on your tour were as you are very complimentary about the staff and the food. The entertainment on Saturday night was fantastic and had the majority of guests dancing on the dance floor until Midnight. The Leam will undergo room renovations to make the most of its superb position in the next few months and we hope you come back to review our progress. This being said The Leam currently is still brilliant value for money it is always friendly, generous with its food and has great entertainment in a good atmosphere. The décor we can sort! Very poor standard of a room(18).The room was dirty and in need of a thorough clean. No mattress protector the sheet put straight on to the bed.The lighting in the room was dull and the electric points were provided by an extension bank. There was no extractor in the bathroom but plenty of hot water for the shower. The food was good enough and served by plesant dining staff.

We have just taken over ownership after 11 years of the previous owner and are looking forward to modernising all rooms in the next 12 months. We hope you come back and see our progress. Room was damp and smelly, main road on seafront busy til late, only single glazing so very noisy. Food bland and unimaginative. Shower took an age to get hot. Staff friendly enough though. Would i return? Don't think so!

Room Tip: Top floor, you can hear a mouse running on the floorboards above your head on floors 1 to 3

Arrived on a coach trip with my husband and 88yr old mam for tinsel and turkey....a lovely welcome for us all with mince pies,sherry,tea/coffee. Excellent check in and all cases delivered to the room so quick. Rooms might need updating but the service you receive overall by far makes up for it...you only sleep in your room after all!! Food was great, entertainment was good........only downside was two women on our trip whom I nicknamed dumb and dumber, need I say more! Thank you to the leam hotel for a lovely 5 days.xx

Just had a very pleasant five days from Holyhead Travel at Leam Hotel for Turkey & Tinsel. The hosts were very helpful, the rooms clean, warm and cosy, and the food excellent, especially the desserts, wow !!
we had a grandstand view of the fireworks from our sea view room.

I really appreciated all the help given to my friend and I, and sincerely hope to be able to visit again soon.

Room Tip: although the lift only takes 3 persons, it did not prove a problem, we were on 3rd floor which I tho...
