Attraction details
Owner description: A varied 4.7 mile walk classed as Moderate along the South West Coast Path as it heads along the east coast of Portland, passing great scenery, historical forts and old quarry workings. Many of the paths around Portland Bill are accessible for powered wheelchair users and rugged pushchairs. The first ½ mile of this route follows a level wide path, but after this becomes more varied with some steep and uneven sections before reaching Church Ope Cove. From the cove to Portland Heights the path is relatively level apart from one steep climb.

Great spectacle of the high speed boats passing the Bill.
Excellent eating places even out of season
Always take nostalgic trip to the Bill whenever we visit.

This was a very interesting part of the Coastal Path, particularly because of the apparent contrasts - quarries, sculptures, clifftops, prisons, lighthouses, marinas.
Particularly liked the sculptures in Tout Quarry Sculpture Park, make time to discover them. Also liked the restaurant/cafe The Lobster Pot at Portland Bill. Superb crab/prawn mayo sandwiches at sensible prices.
Stunning views of Chesil Beach and as far as Start Point in Devon

We chose an open top bus. Brilliant decision as driver chatted about the area at the required stops along the way. Fab day at Portland with good food area. Granddaughter enjoyed rock exploring.
