“A wonderful retreat”
Reviewed 26 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

The cottage is tucked away in a dip in the fields an yet at the same only a few minutes walk to a delightful village and pub. The cottage provided my husband and myself with a much needed peaceful, rest in really cosy surroundings. Sheep are looked after by Hilary and they made the holiday, waking up to their sounds and sitting looking at them during the day.
Hilary was a lovely, interesting person and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Thank you Hilary.

Thank you both for such a wonderful review. I like to think that my guests have a home from home feeling with the cottage., and although close at hand I do not wish to intrude in their privacy.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed the peace and quiet that Grooms Cottage offer (despite the sheep requesting their breakfast)
I hope you will come back again soon. Kind regards Hilary

“It is a gem of a cottage”
Reviewed 12 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Lovely, clean, surprisingly roomy cottage, tucked away down a tree lined drive. It has everything you would want and extras too.How often do you brush your teeth and watch a baby fallow deer in the top field or a young fox pouncing for rabbits.Blissfully quiet well connected for Abbotsbury,Lulworth,West Bay and Weymouth. In the village is a very friendly blacksmith with a range of ironwork items for sale.Hilary is superb at making you truly welcome.I will miss my evening chats with your sheep. The headroom wasn't a problem, even though I'm six foot.A bit of judicious ducking was all that was required. Stay and come home knowing you've been somewhere very special.

What a wonderful place. Full of charm ! Hilary was so warm and welcoming. Fantastic location for exploring the area. We were introduced to the sheep.. exciting to see deer and birds of prey! Always something to watch in the open land and in the courtyard. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable, well equipped. Quiet and peaceful. We recommend Grooms cottage can't wait to revisit!!

Thank you so much for your review. I am so pleased you got to see all the wildlife!! I am looking at a deer on my lawn at the moment. Thank goodness the weather was so good last week. The sheep have not left the warm stable yet - happy and content.
Looking forward to seeing you again anytime. Kind regards Hilary

“Winter break in Groom's Cottage, Langton Herring”
Reviewed 4 December 2016 for a stay in November 2016

The cottage was beautiful and equipped to a very high standard. We were given a warm welcome by Hilary and the flowers and muffins on our arrival were very welcome. The log fires in the evening were lovely.
There is an abundance of wildlife in the area, even outside the front door. The highlight of our stay was the deer seeing off the fox who had the audacity to eat one of their apples.
The photos were all taken from the cottage windows.
We ate out at the local Elm Tree Inn which did some really nice food - especially the bread pudding!

Lovely friendly guests who enjoyed everything that this stunning Dorset coastline has to offer. I am so pleased that the deer and the fox kept us all entertained over the challenge of who were going to eat the fallen apples. I am delighted you enjoyed Grooms Cottage, and hope to see you again. Thank you again. Regards Hilary

“Charming small cottage, beautifully equipped for a couple.”
Reviewed 9 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Grooms Cottage is at the end of a private wooded driveway, close to the sea and the charming village of Langton Herring, a few miles outside of Weymouth. While the cottage is small, it is beautifully appointed with excellent facilities. The courtyard is a south facing sun trap and there are a pair of comfortable chairs with cushions inviting you to sit and relax. It was wonderful waking up to hear and see the birds, sheep and even deer in the fiekd beyond the courtyard. Our host was very warm, welcoming and helpful. We had a great week walking the coastal trail, visiting Hardy's birthplace and Lawrence of Arabia's cottage. Weymouth was fascininating with its Georgian history.

Liked best: Just about everything.
Liked least: The wifi access can be intermittent as it comes from the host's property, and the cottage walls are super thick.

“Quiet,relaxing,hideaway”
Reviewed 23 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We enjoyed a really lovely relaxing holiday at Grooms Cottage which is set in stunning picturesque surroundings. We appreciated the cakes and milk which Hilary provided on our arrival. The kitchen is well equipped. Large bath with lots of very hot water. We slept like logs in the large very comfortable bed. The cottage has beautiful features is well decorated, clean and perfect for two. We enjoyed watching the pet sheep, pheasants and wild birds in the field opposite the cottage. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you Hilary for the perfect holiday.

I am so pleased you enjoyed what Grooms has to offer. The peace that brings calm to us and the birds and animals seems to rub off, and a huge sense of calm reigns. I have tried to make it as much like home as possible. Looking forward to seeing you both again. Thank you both. Love Hilary
