Owner description: This 19th century fort includes a museum highlighting Weymouh's role in Britain's naval history. Built by the Victorians to protect Portland Harbour, Nothe Fort is one of the best preserved forts of its kind. The advances in technology that affected the fort are explained through many displays, exhibits and audio visual facilities located on the ramparts, gun decks and maze of underground passageways. Enjoy the stunning and far reaching views of the Jurassic Coast from the picnic areas on the Ramparts. These will provide one of the best vantage points on the south coast.

“Very very good value”

This is well worth a visit and why note take a picnic for the grass area outside. On my first visit i was astounded at how tame the squirrels are outside, they could all be fed by hand and one climbed my leg for a closer view!

“Unusally interesting venue to visit. Dogs welcome too!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

The staff are very welcoming and friendly and your gift aid receipt allows another visit free of charge within 12 months.
Interesting exhibits with guns for children but plenty to keep adults interested too. Is set within a lovely park.
Food at the cafe was delicious but staff in there could've cheered up a bit rather than being so formal.
Will probably go back again when I next visit the area.

one of the best places to visit in Weymouth, Really interesting and the volunteers are really friendly, we had a very warm welcome and enjoyable visit. Also this is a really nice place to call in a get a tea and coffee in the morning from their cafe.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Visited here with children aged 9 and 17, interesting morning spent looking around fort. Some of the displays could do with updating, and would of been helpful to have had guides around the fort to tell you a little of the history. However very much enjoyed, great views across to Portland, very reasonably priced (£15 for family of four), a nd a good insight into some our British history. A must see for Weymouth. Tip beautiful park just outside fort to enjoy picnic.
