“surprising excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

for a small place, there's lots to do.

Wonderful views, arguably as good as the sealife tower and cheaper.

A mouse hunt for the kids that keeps them interested with lots of history for us adults.

The café was exceptional, cheap and the staff were so helpful and genuine.

£15 for 2 adults, 1 child (infant got in for free) and we can visit all year for free!

The neighbouring gardens are pleasant with lots of wildlife and great views of the harbour at Weymouth and across to portland

“Nice day out”

We had a nice visit to Nothe fort. The Matchstick display was amazing. Staff were also helpful and happy to explain stuff. My daughter enjoyed the mouse challenge!
The ghost passage was too scary for my daughter (9) and I must admit I wasn't keen to linger in there! The tunnels and displays were great.
My only niggle would be that the toilets were a little smelly and could do with some modernising, but I understand this is a charitable organisation, so I'm sure it's on the list when they have the funding!
All in all an interesting and worthwhile trip.
We spent 3 hours there, although that included around 1/2 hour in the cafe for a cream tea!

“More to see than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

Run by the Civic Society and volunteers, they should be rightly proud of their efforts. Can't comment on the Cafe, didn't go there. But the displays of Victorian and WW2 were excellent. The reasonable admission charge covers a full 12 months and you really need to go back to take it all in. Visited on a very nice day, but even on a bad day there is plenty to see undercover. The models are so well made. This is a Victorian Fort so disabled access wasn't their priority, but, the Society have tried hard to overcome this with a lift to all levels and help at the entrance. Lovely views of Weymouth and Portland from the ramparts.
Council car park nearby is very reasonable but I needed the Sat Nav to find my way. Ticket desk could have been a bit more slick, long queue for us. Could not someone operate from the shop side of the desk to speed up the entrance procedure?

We went on a WW2 weekend with special events on which was brilliant for the whole family. We will definitely be back.
