“One place I would definitely visit again. Perfect location, wonderful owners and great service”
Reviewed 28 April 2010

One place I would definitely visit again. Perfect location, wonderful owners and great service.

Location
This place is tucked away on a nice little side road perpendicular to the beach front. From leaving the front door, a quick run and you could be the water swimming to France in under 120 seconds. As close to the sea as that. All places a tourist would want to visit are all in walking distance, no, make that hopping distance because the location is perfect.

Room
The room was spotless. I lay on the bed and instantly my nostrils were pleasantly greeted by the fresh smell of fabric conditioner. (Something I had never experienced in a hotel before!) I didn’t want to get up! There is a TV, towels, and all the other little pleasantries you would expect in a decent hotel/B&B. HOWEVER, one thing that some may find a put off is the toilets and bathroom. There is no en suite bathroom in the room. To have a shower or bath, (or even a poo) you would have to make your way to the middle floor...

Bathroom
The one bathroom is situated on the middle floor of the building. Depending on what room you are in, it may be quicker for you to run the beach and wash there. (see first paragraph) The bathroom is well kept and fresh though. Shower and bath are available for use – but I couldn’t help feeling rushed in fear of one of the other guests needing to use the facilities.

Pros:-
Complimentary breakfast was very filling and satisfying! Hmmmm!
Comfortable, clean place with wonderful hosts.

Cons:-
Rooms have single glased windows. At certain times the noise from outside could be heard. Good thing Im not too much of a light sleeper.

Bathroom was a little far away. Not convenient if you wake up in the middle of the night with a strong urge to pee... I did wonder how many people had peed in the bedroom sink I used to wash my face :-/

Very friendly and welcoming, one of the cleanest and most tastefully decorated guest houses to be found. Good location very close to the sea front and at the quieter end of town, peaceful and quiet at night. Freshly cooked breakfasts with local produce. Extra little touches made the stay extremely enjoyable and highly recommended.

This guest house is situated just around the corner of the Esplanade, about 100 m from the beach. You can walk to the centre and harbour in 10 minutes. A parking permit is given to park in the neighbourhood, which is a great help as there is not much parking in weymouth.
Our room on the top was very very small, but spotless clean. Breakfast was great and our hosts were very friendly.
I liked Weymouth a lot: beautiful Espalanade, very nice beach, lovely harbour and the Dorset coast offers fantastic views. And try Perry's in the harbour, this restaurant offers really very good good !

With the unexpected good weather, we decided to make the most of it and head to the coast.

Booked via laterooms the evening before, no problems and instant confirmation.

Kelston Guest House is located 1 road back from the sea so location for the beach is perfect. A 5 min walk into town for bars/ restaurants.

A parking permit is given to park in the street, which is a help as not much parking in weymouth.

Owners were extremely accomodating and our room was clean, comfortable with all what you expect from a B&B - even a min fridge which was fab seeing as weather was warm.

Breakfast was excellent and you must try the sausages.

All in all a very enjoyable stay and yes we would stay again.

After having a stressful couple of months at work, Weymouth was the perfect escape from city living, and Kelston Guest House the perfect place to relax.
Having never been to Weymouth before , it was good to stay at a guest house where the people who run it (Karen and Martin James) were so friendly and helpful. They told us about some great places to visit and wonderful restaurants and pubs that serve great food .
Our room in the guest house was spacious, and very clean. With the home comforts of an en-suite, TV, and tea/coffee making facility.
It was great to be able to make a cup of tea in our room. I can't bear it when that service is not available!
One thing I always enjoy when I go away, is the breakfast, and I was not disappointed. It was lovely, especially the sausages.
I could not believe how close Kelston guest house was to the sea.
I am planning another visit to this wonderful guest house in the summer months, when I will be braving the sea!

We stayed at this guest house for a few days over the Easter holidays. Fantastic guest house, really friendly and just seconds from the beach. Really really family friendly. Great breakfast with fab sausages. The thing we noticed the most is that it was sooooooo CLEAN. The family went out of their way to give us a wonderful break, kids though it was the best place they had ever stayed.

  • Liked — Clean, friendly and modern decoration
  • Disliked — parking permits, although we did find a space easily
