Superb, friendly service in a beautiful Victorian building that requires updating. This mother and son are putting everything into realising the potential of this fantastic building and business that they inherited as a near shell. Very clean and servceable. If you run a miie at a work in progress don't stay here. However if like me you enjoy a quirky independant guesthouse with sincere and hardworking owners, jump at the chance. Look forward to revisiting in 5 years when all the graft and reinvestment has born fruit. Well done and see you again. PS had to leave for work before breakfast but was assured by other residents it was excellemt.

The room was very large and comfortable and the breakfast was good. I consider it good value for money. There was plenty of parking and it is near the seafront. What let this room down was the ensuite that was too small, particularly the shower, although I know this room has not been renovated yet, so perhaps this is something they are going to do anyway in the future. I found the mattress too hard, but I prefer a pocket sprung mattress. Overall a good place to stay which will become better if they renovate the rooms, and expand on the variety of breakfast options like fruit salad, tomatoes, etc.

Just a quick review as we were only there for a night. We stayed in a large family room plenty big enough for parents and teenages although you are all in one room so sleep quality might be poor if someone snores lol. Breckie was fine as you would expect from a B and B in the UK. Nice location on the main road into Weymouth and nice and quiet over night. About 5minswalk to the promanade. Good size car park and the owner was very helpful with a few directions we needed. So thank you for our stay.

A word of caution - this place is very much a work in progress. The mother and son only took it over earlier this year - their story is told in other reviews. Unfortunately on our visit the negatives probably outweighed the positives, which was a shame because I really do believe that in a year or two from now this place will be a real gem. At the moment it has a very dated look and feel. Our party had a double en-suite room which was quite small, I had a single room without an en-suite which was dis-proportionately large. Also putting a single room next door to a double when the walls are quite thin is a mistake, as I had to endure the couple in the double room indulge in sexual activity each morning! Luckily the activity didn't last too long - but was a bit embarrassing and off putting for a single visitor. The carpet in my single room was very grubby and stained. The toilets were some yards away and suffered from the very old, very inefficient Victorian plumbing, which meant that in most cases you were greeted with someone elses "deposits" when using the toilet! I never used the shower room, which looked equally old and uninviting.

On a positive note - the communal areas are bright and inviting, the breakfast was especially good, the owner was a little too apologetic when things went wrong - as an example - the toaster was prone to jamming and we were told that it would get replaced when higher priorities had been addressed, I would have thought that to get down to the local Asda or tesco and buy a couple of cheap toasters was not going to break the bank, especially when on the weekend we were there the place was pretty much full to capacity.
Another positive is the off street parking, a real asset for a place in this very busy area.

I really hope that the current owners can press ahead with their plans to make all rooms en-suite as soon as possible and also consider the siting of rooms.
We will use the George again - it is cheap and at some point in the future will, I hope be cheerful!

This Mum and son just setting out with lots of work to do on the hotel and with the right attitude to make it a success. So friendly and helpful. In spite of needing refurbishment, it is still an excellent place to stay, clean, comfortable and a delightful walk into the beach and shopping area of Weymouth (especially welcome after a day sitting in the car). Good value for money and fab breakfasts.
