Cleanliness off the room was not great dirty marks on wall which cost nothing to wipe off. Running a Hoover over the dining area costs nothing. Out of date breakfast bars in bowl. A little bit more love of the trade wouldn't go a miss in this establishment. Location is excellent for exploring weymouth right on top of everything.

Stayed weekend 13/14 July 2013 - a scorching hot weekend by the sea !! Being a large house the communal areas were cool although our allocated room had the afternoon sun so we did draw the curtains and leave the windows open all the time to get a little coolness into the room.

The owners are trying very hard to get everything right and to please their customers.
Good level of cleanliness.
Large room (room 6) so plenty of room to spread out.
Good selection of bathroom accessories provided - and a box of tissues, result !!
Fresh cook breakfast to order.
Excellent location.
Off-street parking for guests.

Very small en-suite with the dreaded glass shelf over the (minescule) basin just at the right height to bang your head on every time you clean your teeth ! it could be moved elsewhere e.g. above the toilet, so that it would still provide space to put things down ! However not all rooms have their own en-suite yet so I am grateful there was one !
Worried about the fish in the pond in the garden who looked like they needed some fresh oxygenated water !!
Being an old house the renovations are taking longer than they hoped to be completed so not having too higher expectations on the accommodation means that there would be no surprises !
Would happily stay there again as there was no nasty surprises lurking and it was a very good rate for a busy Weymouth weekend.
Look forward to seeing how things progress as they achieve their ambitions.

Room Tip: Was placed in Room 6 which is 1st floor at the back. Had requested minimum number of stairs due to m...

Comfortable and clean room with a large clean bathroom. All at a very reasonable rate. Lots of off street parking and WiFi, no dramas with my anti social start and finish times. I Can't comment on the breakfast as I missed it both mornings but would happily recommend and will use again.

This old house that once was a vicarage is nowadays a B & B. The owners has recently started the renovation of the hotel. We only met the lady, who was very friendly and served us a delicious english breakfast. Reasonable price. The only complaint we had was that is was a little bit cold in the room, but the they put in an extra radiator.

This is a reasonably priced and very clean B & B (why does the sign outside describe it as both a Hotel and a guest-house?). We had the family room which would have slept four albeit the mattresses were not that comfortable, with a very tiny en suite bathroom (no shampoo and the only soap was from a plastic dispenser). For £65 that wasn't bad.

From looking at the photos I suspect our room hadn't been updated in quite the same way as some of the others had but that should happen in time I guess (there is an interesting explanation of the history of the project in the dining room).

Great location and v quiet. Best bit was the cooked breakfast which was very good.

Room Tip: Have a look at the photos on line first

We struggled to find a budget hotel in Weymouth at relatively short notice and were delighted (but a little apprehensive) when we booked at The George. We had no need to worry.

The hotel is clean, accessible, and had some great features. Yes, it is being renovated, but you are getting exceptional value for money and a real family friendly service. We stayed in the family room to the rear which was huge - a double bed, 2 singles and still plenty of room to set up the baby's travel cot. Clean, crisp linen, well furnished and fresh looking. The en suite was shoe box tiny, but serviceable. It would have benefitted from a little shelf for toiletries as there was nowhere but the toilet cistern to stash our toothbrushes!

The breakfast was excellent - perfect sized portions of good quality full english. And they tolerated our whirlwind toddler immensely well.

The highlight of our trip was the aftercare; we left a new picture book behind. The owner called and left a telephone message to see if we'd have a chance to nip back and get it; we didn't and thought no more of it. However, two days later we received it in the post.

Its thoughtfulness like that that will set the George apart and I wish them every success as their business continues to grow. I'll reccomend it with no reservation to all my friends - just bear in mind that they're doing their best in difficult financial circumstances to make a family business work.
