My review relates to the leisure facilities only as I live locally and use them very frequently.
In Nov-Dec 2013 there has been a rapid decline in the facilities. Today's visit: the pool was unpleasantly cold to the point that it wasn't nice to swim in. The sauna was 110 degrees, a nice contrast to the pool but a tad too hot!
Out of the 24, lockers 23 are broken; the last remaining stalwart is hanging on by one hinge.
In the showers one is missing a door, both are full of mould, hair and peeling paint. The water is freezing.
Why the sudden down turn in service? I love coming here but am seriously considering other alternatives.

I attended a function in the hotel and stayed overnight. The room was clean and functional and the bed was comfortable.
The service however was terrible. There were two functions on in the hotel that night. We were due to be seated at 7.30 it was nearer 9 before we sat down and didn't finish being served with our desserts until almost 11, some of our table did not get the desserts they ordered as we were informed the chef had dropped a tray, however we were offered a choice of acceptable alternatives after a considerable wait.
I appreciate that it's a logistical nightmare to cater two large events but the hotel should have either not taken two bookings that night or ensured there were more staff to cover as clearly they could not cope. Also the staff need to be trained in silver service as they failed to clear the tables correctly after each course.
At one point the queue for the bar was far too long due to lack of bar staff.
Breakfast was not good either. The restaurant was not busy and we went down at about 9.15. We were seated and the waitress brought our coffee but no milk, when we went to ask for milk she was no where to be seen. She brought us our toast which was just unceremoniously deposited on the table without letting us know the whereabouts of butter and jam. We had to wait for fresh food to be brought out as the buffet was almost empty, other guests commented that they'd never had to keep going back up to get parts of their breakfast. We had no bacon or hash browns, the sausages were insipid and a cake slice is not the easiest thing to serve fried eggs with.
The waitresses spent more time in the kitchen than in the restaurant and offered no apology for the delays and no top up on the hot drinks. They did not interact with the guests sufficiently to provide any form of reasonable service (I've had better service in a fast food restaurant)

Whilst the price was reasonable that is no excuse for the lack of service provided by this establishment.

Amazing situation with lovely sea views, a great surprise to find beautifully appointed bedroom with safe, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities tastefully decorated with modern fittings. Even better when we realised our £40/night included use of a lovely indoor pool, sauna and steam room. I cannot understand the mixed reviews about the hotel- staff are excellent (apart from the dining room manager) providing attentive service. Wonderful 3 day weekend break.

Great price and stay for two nights. Staff were great the rooms were very modern, clean and warm. Nice for an out of season break. We enjoyed our stay. Nice walk into town via the beach about 40 minutes. Note: buses only run in the season, however taxis are about £6.50. Wide screen tv and and a fridge was novel! Yes a fridge.

had a great time, staff really friendly and helpful, pool and leisure centre great , room perfect with a great view and breakfast was delicious , can't wait to go again, just wish we had longer to stay there , also a shame the bus service doesn't run in the winter but not the hotels fault.

Room Tip: always pick the room with a view ;-)

Had a very enjoyable short break in this hotel the rooms were very clean and the bed comfortable. Although we did not have a sea view the hotel itself is very well situated in a beautiful spot for walking and a very short ride into Weymouth. Breakfast was buffet style with a good choice. Overall had a lovely stay and would definitely come back again.

Room Tip: possibly worth upgrading to a sea view.

We stayed at the Riviera for a long weekend birthday treat for my husband. Having been told about its past (it was formally a Holiday Camp) we were a little dubious about what we would find, but what a pleasant surprise. Lovely modern rooms, great food and the most gorgeous 'hot' swimming pool greeted us. The steam and sauna rooms were an additional bonus and although we didn't sample the gym, it looked to have everything you could want. The staff were extremely friendly and we eventually got our iron and ironing board after asking a couple of times. A good price for a two night b&b stay.

Room Tip: The majority of rooms face the sea and branch out like arms from the central body of the hotel, on t...
