“Fantastic Four Day Break”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

I cannot believe that I stayed at the same hotel during the same period as some of the other reviewers. We paid a little more for a view and got double room 125 inclusive of breakfast. Room was clean and tidy and remained so throughout our stay. It was also reasonably cool considering the very hot weather. The cleaners were extremely polite and friendly and did their job really well every day. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the room also contained a midi fridge which was a real bonus to store snacks, water and extra milk in.
Yes, there is a walk from the car park to main reception but bare in mind that this is not a luxury hotel so take your time and enjoy the lovely view. Reception staff were always pleasant and helpful. We needed a bulb changed which was seen to immediately, likewise my husband inadvertently locked the safe and we couldn't open it again they sent someone over immediately to reset it.
Took advantage of the zumba aerobics (external instructor but reduced £4 per person fee for hotel guests saving us £1) and used the ample sized pool, sauna and steam room and jacuzzi seat around the side of the pool throughout our stay.
Ample breakfast served in the dining room and again no issue with the efficient staff. They had a very busy day on the 2nd day of our stay but they all remained clam and worked as a team to clear the backlog which they achieved in 10 mins.
We came here as a mature couple during the school holidays but I would happily bring my grandchildren and friends here in the future. We are seasoned hotel guests and stay in a hotel at least once every six weeks. Give this hotel a chance. The staff really are trying and as long as you do your research as to what type of holiday you want and what room type will suit you you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Book 'room with a view' which is much cheaper directly through the hotel £99 per night with...

Just got back from what I can only say was bloody awful ! We, like many others had read the reviews but decided to make up our own mind.On arrival we sat in the car and laughed, it certainly gave Faulty Towers a run for its money.
We were given a room at the back ,overlooking the hilly area. The room was dirty, rubbish under the bed and only one cup ,which had a brown ring around the bottom on the inside. There was dust on the bedside table and along the back of the bed. I went to reception to point this out and was told it would be dealt with, it wasn't.
There was a stool under the vanity mirror which had long blonde hairs and dirt on it , obviously not ours as I'm a red head and my partner is bald, this was still there after 3 days.We also had cold water from the shower throughout our stay and no fans to take away the stifling heat.
The day of departure we were woken at 4-15 am by some drunken louts hammering on our door trying to find their mates! They then continued to cause some disturbance for at least another hour which meant me getting up yet again to tell them to shut up. On check out I relayed this to reception to be told it was being dealt with as there had been a number of complaints, not helpful when you are then faced with a seven hour drive home
This hotel leaves a lot to be desired and most Definately NOT worth the money we paid for it. It is run down, dirty and I would not recommend it to anyone. TERRIBLE !

Room Tip: Don't bother, there are lovely much cheaper options available

This accommodation is in a perfect location. Stunning views and only a ten minute bus ride into Weymouth centre (2.50 per person but only 6.50 for a taxi for a late night option).
Our reception was ok but not very warm. We were advised of breakfast times but not of facilities available such as gym, swimming pools and their opening times. The directions were given to our room were vague resulting in us wandering around a bit as the numbers are not very clearly marked. Our room was at the back of the hotel up a concrete ramp and then a steep set of very rusty metal stairs. The room opened onto a raised path running alongside the front and was very dirty and the finishing touch was a black bin bag of rubbish which remained there from our arrival Friday night to Saturday afternoon.
The room we had was extremely small. Only one person could move around the beds at a time. There is plenty of storage - wardrobe, dressing table. The bathroom was a good size with shower and bath although the fitting to change the water flow from bath to shower was broken so needed some dexterity to operate. The room was fairly recently decorated but cleaning standards let it down - some cobwebs in the bathroom, dirty skirting board under the dressing table, 3 empty water bottles under the bed (not ours). Bedding and towels good quality and clean. There is a fridge but because it is in a cupboard with no ventilation the champagne we put in to chill actually came out hotter than room temperature! We were fortunate enough to have great weather but the room was stiflingly hot with no air conditioning or fan.
Breakfast was fine and good value. Melon, yogurt, cereals, croissant plus a hot buffet with a good quality of product. The dining room is dark which I found quite gloomy for breakfast but this is just my taste.
Indoor swimming pool was a good size and temperature. We had to wait about ten minutes for someone to arrive so we could get some towels. The changing area was very dirty and poorly decorated and the shower was filthy with a blocked plug full of hair - at about half nine in the morning.
So overall the great location meant we had a great weekend. We paid 218 including breakfast for two nights. Given the size of the room and the chalet type layout with a very worn exterior (this used to be a Pontins facility) I did not feel this offered value for money. However, even if priced more appropriately I would still have been disappointed with some issues around cleanliness.

After reading many reviews of this hotel I was a little dubious about it , how wrong can so many people be ,food great ,rooms good for the price ,staff very friendly and helpful.
We travelled with a mature couple ,and they enjoyed it as well.
Hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there but it was nothing like so many said .
Well done !!!

Room Tip: we had top floor front and excellent sea views

Awful, rude staff, unfriendly, no fans in room, boiling hot, cold water. Photos look nice, when we got there our jaws dropped, run down and just horrible. Breakfast was awful, not much choice. Getting ready for a wedding in peak summer with no fan or aircon was awful! What upset me the most was the attitude of the staff... Will never stay here again. Won't ever recommend it either.

Room Tip: Don't go for this hotel is you are looking for good service and a nice breakfast, or if you like...

This hotel has the potential to be good. If.....the cleaners were changed to ones that knew how to clean. Toilet had brown stains in water, doors full of dirt and sticky stuff.
At breakfast we saw waitress drop fork, pick it up and put it back in draw, which was filthy. She then picked up a cup, along with a dirty cloth, put the cup upside down on a filthy looking chair, wiped the table with the filthy cloth and put the cup on table. I then decided to go without breakfast.
The whole place needs cleaning up, and the junk that is put around back is horrible.

Room Tip: None of them!

Booked the hotel last minute for a day trip to weymouth.live in south wales so a 3 hour drive.after visiting sea life for the day, drove to the hotel and arrived with my wife and 11 month old at 4.30.from a distance hotel looks promising.as you get closer looks very sorry and worn.my wife and I joked that we had booked into fawlty towers but expected it would be better inside.there was a bit of a walk from the car park to reception.passed the outdoor pool which was packed as a hot day.got into reception and looked promising.very grand, air conditioned and easy check in.receptionist told us directions to room.we went across the front of the hotel, through a passage way to an outbuilding.up a windy concrete ramp then steel steps then across a narrow walk way to our room.the rooms window was open but the room was sweltering!we also specified we needed a cot when booking.not in the room on arrival, but the room was so smallI had no idea where it would fit! I returned to the car to collect cases etc.left wife and baby in room.on my return they were both covered in little black bugs.the bathroom was filthy and the bins not even emptied. We decided that we couldn't stay for the wellbeing of our baby and us.Lugged all the suitcases back down to reception (no easy task with the distance from room) Told receptionist wanted a refund right away as room was filthy and covered in bugs (my son even has a bite or two from being in the room for no less than 15 minutes) Receptionist offered another room but there was no way we would stay.

No argument over refund and given right away, so no complaints there but on reviews read-seems a common occurrence! I wish I had taken more notice of the reviews. the hotel has so much potential but is just wasted in its current state.for the asking price of a room i wouldn't even say it was cheap. Luckily managed to get a room in Premier Inn Dorchester for £10 more.it is around 15 minutes away but I would recommend anyone to bite the bullet and go there (or the one in Weymouth (which was full when we tried booking) and pay the extra

Avoud this place at all costs!
