“comfortable stay”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Stayed here for 5 days this August.Hotel is nice and rooms are very modern though could be bigger. My husband had a single room to himself whilst I shared a twin with my 16 year old niece. If you want to go into Weymouth u will need to catch a bus or drive as we did as a fare way away and very steep hill.Breakfast was good as full English though ran out very quickly and had to wait for it to be topped up.indoor pool nice though busy with screaming kids.only down side was service not very good .waited 45 minutes for 2 cups of coffee and a hot chocolate.took 3 members of staff to make.Would I stay here again.yes probably would but a little nearer Weymouth would be better.

Paid £109 per night for twin room, the room was situated in a prefab section around the back of the hotel. Awful views of bins and what looked like workers quarters. Restaurant food was very poor and they also shut the bar at 11pm which is odd for a hotel. Staff tried but little things like no iron available as they didn't know who had borrowed the few they had nor when they'd be returned. They've spent money on the inside of the rooms but the rest is of a very low standard. Don't bother would be my review and advice.

I stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend approximately 4 months ago. paid roughly £70 for the one evening's stay, in a room with a double bed and sea view.
Upon arrival, we were given the keys to a room which had no sea view, it was just the rear of the hotel with a view of more buildings. We complained about this, and were told it was a system database error to do with certain room numbers, and we were given a new room with a more pleasant view, and free breakfast for the morning, which we thought was acceptable and were content with. What we weren't told was that in the 4 rooms either side of us, a group of rugby players were staying the weekend. what followed was an evening of loud, obnoxious behavior and lots of alcohol. after complaining to the receptionist 3 times during the evening, the latest at 4:30 am the situation was finally sorted. the next day after 4 hours sleep, we were invited to a meeting with the hotel manager,Carol Rooke. she promised us a full refund, which we received, and then said we could have a free nights stay providing nothing was said on Trip Advisor. After 4 attempts of contact and being told that they are fully booked I've lost my patience. The facilities are poor and the whole place needs a lick of paint. Massively disappointing and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Wouldn't pick any rooms on this site

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. It has wonderful views over the bay. The rooms are chalet style but recently modernised which we found tasteful. We stayed as part of a family group. So can comment about various rooms. We found the rooms lacked plug points and hooks for towels etc, but generally clean and was good to have a fridge in the room.

The outside is tatty with peeling painted doors, but this can be easily rectified. It wasn't going to spoil our break.
However outside there were several bins which were never emptied during the time we were staying. Glasses were left out on the walkways from guests from the night before and were not removed until the afternoon. This we found unacceptable as it is a hazard! Thankfully I was not staying with children! If any of these glasses got broken, it could cause horrible injuries to anyone!

We were quite surprised to find that our rooms were not cleaned whilst we were there. They came in only to refresh the tea and coffee facilities. Some of our party did have their room bins emptied but we didn't.

We ate in the bar one night, had breakfast both mornings and ate in the riviera suite as part of a function. I can happily say the food was lovely and the bar and waiting staff efficient.

As already stated, the views are amazing, we found it took about an hour to walk across to the other side of the bay. It takes a few minutes only to walk down to the beach and there is a Spar supermarket nearby too. Wifi was good at the hotel too. It certainly has potential, if some of the basics were addressed. For the price of the rooms, the basics should be in place.

I would gladly return if housekeeping and outside cleaning improved.

Regrettably had to cancel my long term booking ( 7 months ) for a weekend Fleet Air Arm reunion because hotel had double booked the facilities required, and agreed, by hotel Events Co-ordinator.

I understand the General Manager of the hotel failed to enter into dialogue with the reunion representatives to retrieve the situation. Extremely disappointing, cowardly and unprofessional behaviour of the management which reflects badly on the hotel and has left a very large number of ex-serviceman and their partners without their long awaited and eagerly anticipated weekend gathering. Shame on you Riviera.

Recommend any prospective guests find alternative accommodation.

We stayed one night at this hotel - what used to be the old Pontins - and were very impressed with the room, the service, the breakfast and the views.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was an all you can eat buffet and catered for all tastes!! The room was modern, clean and made good use of the space.
Would definitely stay there again!

Just arrived back from a 3 night stay with my 4 year old son and partner.
We were very worried arriving because we has spent the prev evening reading the bad reviews of the hotel on this web site. I can honestly say it was a lovely hotel. If you are expecting boutique like we were then you will feel let down but the hotel location and sea views made up for it. More like a travel lodge.
I don't feel let down by the price we paid because of where it was located.
The swimming pool looked lovely but because the hotel is on a cliff it was too windy to use. Kids fair was only 3 mins walk away. Beach 2 mins walk , beautiful views. Ideal family location. 10 mins drive from weymouth centre.
Rooms are small because of the designer furniture but still enough room for us to put up a small camp bed for our toddler. Breakfast was nice and staff friendly. Could of maybe given us more info about hotel when we arrived , no mention of the spa etc just gave us our room key and asked us if we wanted a wake up call. Would definitely stay there again because of its location.

Room Tip: 114 next to exit , could potentially keep you awake but we were so tired from days activities we sle...
