Once we had overcome the initial challenge of finding a suitable route from our holiday home Nothe Gardens, it was a pleasant surprise to see how nice this area was. Plenty of parking available and not too badly priced. The Gardens overlook Portland Harbour and when we visited we had a nice view across to Portland. Lovely little park that our little boy enjoyed playing in and we liked watching the local squirrels routing around. Our main reason for coming up here was to visit Nothe Fort and this was a lovely additional gem.

An alternative to the beach, this place offers stunning views out to Portland and back to Weymouth. There are plenty of benches and grassy areas to sit, rest and picnic. Car parking and public toilets are available but the walk up to the gardens is just as enjoyable. A local pub offers good food and drink. Or visit the fort at the other end of the garden walk for history lesson and more stunning views out to sea. All worth a visit.

Take a walk around the Nothe headland at dusk, it is well worth it. So relaxing. Plenty of benches to sit on.
