My fiend and I popped into the moon fleet manor for lunch - it's a great setting with its own unique decor. Worth a visit

“Great setting but pretentious and too many kids.”
Reviewed 8 November 2012

Another one of those places that you revisit and it's not as good as it used to be. The setting is lovely, eccentric kitsch with a great history. Unfortunately, it seems to have become a refuge for pretentious families.
The food was very good as was the wine list, however when we asked about the price of a bottle of champagne the price we were quoted was somewhat inferior to what was on the bill. When this was pointed out there was no apology and no attempt to rectify the matter. We would love to see it as it once was - a wonderful cosy retreat without the Tiffanys and Rolands dashing around.

“Champagne Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 30 September 2012

An unusual review as it is not for a restaurant meal, as, such but a present given to us "Champagne Afternoon Tea "

An absolute delight to what an quintsential English afternoon tea should be:
Chilled Champagne
Smoked Salmon, Cucumber, Egg and creamed cheese sandwiches
Carrot Cake, Lemon Drizzle Cake, Sponge, Flapjack and Chocolate Brownies
Homemade Scones with cream and strawberry jam
Leaf Tea and a Tea Strainer
All served by a very polite French waiter in a delightful country house surroundings.
What better way, with the Sunday papers to spend a Sunday afternoon

“Poor service arrogant staff”
Reviewed 30 September 2012

Having stopped for a drink on Saturday it was very dissapointing to have to ask if snarky exist . Then promptly to be Told to be seated and we would be served. We order two drinks and a bowl of chips right in lunch time. Both items took ages to turn up and still waiting for the horrible chips people asked us were they can get drinks and I said we were told to sit and wait and be served. A waiter came out ask what we want to order we then promptly told her we did order but all the others still need serving. Needless to say arrogantly a comment came back I am in control.
To say the chips was terrible abd tge way it was produced was just below tge belt.
We won't go back but is such a pity that's such a nice location is ruined by very poor service and just no proudness of being in the catering industy.

“Very welcome and good coffee in an out of the way location”
Reviewed 27 August 2012 via mobile

Half way round a long walk we discovered this place. It was a bit difficult to find the entrance from the coast path but worth the effort for an excellent cup of coffee. The salads I could see other diners eating looked fresh and tasty.
