I booked an overnight stay at The Bridge Inn for my best friends birthday. I also booked a three hour spa experience with one '30 minute' treatment.

Firstly...I visited another spa with the same friend last year and in no way does this hotel & spa even come close!!

I booked the 'Take time out and relax midweek' package. This one night break includes, three hours use of our spa facilities, robes, towels and slippers, one 30 minute treatment per person from the following, aromatherapy back massage, express facial or nail file and polish either hands or feet, three course carvery evening dinner and full Yorkshire Breakfast.

The treatment we received was a back massage - however this most certainly did not last 30 minutes! There was a short consultation at the beginning & time at the end to relax once the massage was over - so if this was included in the timing it might just have made 30 minutes!

In addition to this, when we first arrived at the hotel the reception staff were not particularly helpful - they didn't have our room key as housekeeping had been in the room, therefore the key was already in the door. We were not told our room number, so although we were told where to go, we had to return to reception to make sure that we had the right room, to which the receptionist replied 'It wouldn't be the first time I have given someone the wrong room!!' - that didn't exactly fill us with hope! We were given no information about where to go for the Spa or what to do, we were not informed as to where dinner would be served, nor were we told anything regarding breakfast the following morning - we had to ask about all of these things.

I also upgraded our room to a 'Club room' - these rooms are supposed to be larger, with larger beds and chocolates in the room on arrival. The room was far from large and the beds were smaller than single (if that is possible?!). Perhaps house keeping had eaten the chocolates as these were also missing?! In addition to this, the hotel advertise wifi connection within the room, which we were unable to connect to - and when my friend went to ask about this at reception they offered very little help/explanation! The bathroom was lovely and was very clean, however the toilet seat was broken, therefore whenever you sat on it you had to steady yourself!

The spa is extremely spread out & is not particularly easy to navigate...
The first room we went into was the steam room, which smelt very strongly of stale sweat - not a pleasant first experience of the spa. The rest of the spa was clean - however there was also an ice fountain - minus the ice! As we arrived at 2pm, this is not an unreasonable time to expect everything within the spa to be available!! There is a relaxation room, however this is positioned in such a way that people have to walk through to get to the balcony, which can be disturbing in itself, however the door to this room was possibly the heaviest door in the whole spa/hotel therefore made a terrible bang whenever anyone walked through it - definitely disturbing snooze/relaxation time!

We had a 3 course carvery dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was lovely and service was fantastic...
However, when we went to the same restaurant for breakfast, we were brought a pot of tea, then left completely! We had no idea what we were entitled to and eventually just helped ourselves to whatever we thought we could have...Complete contrast to the service the previous night.

All in all, the stay was not one of pure relaxation as we had hoped - and was certainly not to be compared with our stay in a different spa the previous year.

We will not be returning.

Stayed here on an overnight break for my partners birthday. The deal we got was for dinner, bed and breakfast, club room upgrade, 3 hours use of Spa with afternoon tea and a glass of bubbly in this 4 star hotel for £62 each.

We've stayed in many hotels ranging from basic to luxury in both the UK and overseas. Also, we have been on a few Spa breaks around the UK, some good, some bad so have a benchmark compare this to The cost of this was comparable to other deals we've had in the UK.

- Food was very nice, both breakfast and evening meal were good quality.
- Staff very attentive.
- Having a Spa facility within the hotel
- Modern, comfortable hotel rooms
- Hotel surrounded by pleasant grounds and countryside

- Spa, not very big and no pool.
- upstairs sauna was not working when we went
- major issue with hot tub outside as it was beyond comfortable temp,It was a nice sunny day 30+ guests there and hardly anyone using it because it simply was far too hot! (Guests we're getting out of it looking like lobsters!)
- cold Plunge pool. No one used this because it had green algae
growing on the sides of it!
- Choice of drinks in the Spa was poor, limited to soft drinks ,wine or beer
- Service problem at Spa. We waited over 30mins for our drinks and had to go remind them, although (we received these without charge due to this)
- afternoon tea was not great, sandwiches were dry, no choice or dietary consideration of fillings. As my partner is lactose intolerant so she was limited to what she could eat from this.
- rooms and public areas in hotel cleaned regularly but clearly not dusted thoroughly on a regular basis. Our bedroom appeared clean on the surface but TV, surfaces, behind the chair, skirtings, lamps were thick with dust +tables had sticky drink marks left.

All in all a nice country hotel with attentive staff and decent food in the hotel(besides a bit better cleaning).

With regards to a Spa break, if you've never been on one the this will possibly be ok, but if you've been to other Spa hotels you may be disappointed with this in comparison

Basic, small spa. We did a 3hr deal for £18 and didn't have any treatments. On arrival we waited 5 minutes to be seen to as the receptionist was busy faffing around. We were shown round by a point of a finger.

Changing rooms small but ok, needed a clean. Provided with a towel, flip flops & robe. On entering the "spa" we were welcomed with lots of robes lying around - invest in some hooks! The water and tea was available but no cups.

The spa area was quiet but there isn't much space as only a few things to do.

We went in the outdoor jacuzzi and plunge pool as the sun was shining. However when we tried to enjoy a drink on the balcony we were told no food or hot drinks were allowed - ridiculous rule!

The relaxation room is located upstairs but it a clammy, dark, hot room. Also to get to the balcony you have to go back and forth through the relaxation room we felt as though we were disturbing others.

We walked up the stairs to the treatment rooms three times but didnt see any therapists to ask about treatments. The receptionists didnt seem able to help they were more interested in their bank holiday plans.

I'd rather pay more and get better customer service and quality facilities.

Arrived at the Bridge SPa and from the first instant we had a lovely time. Spa was as advertised and just what we needed, outdoor wooden hot tub was hot on a cold day which was lovely. The meal in the restaurant after the spa was amazing, couldnt fault the waiter, attention to detail or the food. Will visit again this year for sure!
