Previously been earlier in the year and fab...tonight was less than average.

Four of us went tonight. Starter platters were fab but the mains disappointing. The Full Block burger was soggy and the brisket of beef was just like a tough beef dinner, with three tough pieces of beef topped with a rich beef gravy.

On the plus side the cocktails were lush!

When we mentioned it to the server...they just said that’s how it is and walked off. Not the level of service we’ve come to expect from a Paragon Pub.

Very disappointing.

We have visited the Block House as a Family
Four Adults and two Grandchildren weekly since
January and generally have had good food and
Reasonable Service usually on Mid Afternoon
As the Children are under Four and quite boisterous and the staff are very attentive to all our needs
Today Bank Holiday Monday the place was not particularly busy and we got a Good table and expected the usual High standards of food and
Service Sadly today it was completely opposite
The Service

was not good that is the politest I can say as at

it was not that busy
The food however was an unmitigated disaster
The starters were average and took 30 mins to
Arrive and we had to send one back
When the mains arrived 50mins after our arrival
They were below standard and we sent one back which was burnt and considered sending
Them all back but by that time the children were
Becoming Fraught to say the least
Asking for the bill and one espresso the only
bright spot was the speed the bill came
The coffee sadly arrived 10 mins later and was cold
When mentioning to the Waiter our dissatisfaction We were told politely that he thought the food was below standard
You might ask why we did nothing about this but after by now having spent two hours we paid the bill and left the now getting busy
Regrettably their didn’t appear to be any management so we left and I have now written
this critique and regrettably should have made
More of a fuss before we left
Unfortunately a first class concept was ruined by third class service
Yours extremely Dissatisfied

disappointed in the change in menu with no lobster dishes anymore, the food however was still good in a lively friendly atmosphere that would probably have benefitted from the music being turned down a little and the lights slightly brighter. food good and plenty of it disappointed in the ice cream served for sweet already melting down the glass as it arrived and given large spoon to eat it with

Visited the Bockhouse at the Sheet Anchor a couple of weeks ago. Managed to book a table for 2 at short notice. When we arrived the car park was heaving and we struggled to park - we see this as a positive! Owned by the Paragon Group who own a number of other local eateries - all of which offer a different menu. Menu is very BBQ inspired and plenty of choice. We plumped for the nachos and the burnt end for starters. I have to admit the Nacho's were a bit of a disappointment. More of a single baked fajita with topping than a plate of Nacho's which you may come to expect. The main course certaindly made up for it. The Chimichanga was great but the Full Block Burger was probably the best "dirty" burger I had had whilst travelling in the UK. Burger, Pulled Pork, Brisket and Maple Bacon all combined in a great main course. Service was a bit mixed - I don't think we had the same waiter / waitress from taking drinks orders, taking the meal order or bringing food to our table although pleasant throughout. BUt for the Nacho' this woudl have been a 5* review. Either way we will be back!
