Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent M6

Stayed at Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent (M6) when visiting Alton Towers. If driving it is not too far and a reasonable price. Hotel nice, clean and tidy with good facilities. It seems to be more aimed for conferences and businesses but also nice for leisure stays too. A gym and pool which is free for guests is also available. Lovely buffet breakfast too with a variety to choose from. The gym has good equipment and is well maintained. A spa is also available too. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful when asked for restaurant suggestions and directions. Overall happy with stayand service. Thanks!

We booked to return after a very successful weekend package for Alton Towers. Once again the welcome and ease at checking in was great followed by the rooms which where clean and welcoming although the shower had seen it's last days! If you could call it a shower. We then made our way to the bar for a relaxing drink after a very long journey, this is when things changed, a round of five drinks for £23!!!!! After trying to work it out it was brought to our attention that they now charge a 10% service charge on all drinks.... As all tired we decided to have our evening meal there too, when the bill came we again had a 10% service charge. The food was reasonable but over priced for what we had and the service charge just made a family meal for eight even more unaffordable. It was a shame after last year. Having these additional charges has made this holiday one that has become too expensive in today's economy and will make us think twice before booking it again.

Room Tip: Eat and drink out of the hotel.

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent and for posting your review. Thank you also for your honesty and your constructive criticism.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and are always very pleased to receive constructive feedback from our guests to ensure that our high standards are retained.

We are really pleased to hear that you enjoyed your return visit. With regards to the service charge that was levied to your account, I was sorry to learn that you were disappointed and it may mean you would not return to us again in the future. I would just like to make you aware that the service charge is discretionary and if you wish for the charges to be removed, you only have to ask the waiter/waitress or reception on check out and this will be taken care of for you.

I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the near future, and thank you once again for your comments.

Kindest regards

I stayed here with my Mum so we didnt have to do the long drive back to Essex from Alton Towers in one hit. They had great facilities and unlike most hotels with health clubs, the pool/sauna/jacuzzi opens at 7am on a Sunday so you can swim before breakfast. The rooms public areas were very clean and the staff were really helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to make a weekend of Alton Towers.

Stayed in here on a national hollidays bus trip to alton towers. Couldnt fault the hotel exept the location and tge free food. The room were fine and rather basic but there was nothing bad. Everythin you need i a hotel. Bathroom was a tad grotty but not a problem. The funny thing i found was that the sofa beds were comfeyer than the acctual beds but we were only there a night and we got to sleep perfectly fine. The bar and reasraunt were nice mordern and cosy but the drinks were well overpriced. Also the location is limited. Unless you have transport there is nowhere else to go. Irs in the midle of nowhere. I enjoyed my stay and woul recomend it :D

I stayed here with friends recently during a trip to Alton Towers. The hotel and main reception were all well designed and looked after. The rooms were acceptable - the bathroom was a little dirty but all in working order. I didn't really except the food to be up to much however, it was amazing! Couldn't fault it at all and the staff were great - Sarah was most efficient and helpful and made our stay! Thanks to all.

Stayed at this property for one weekday night on our way further north up the M6 - 2 adults, 1 child, paying £99 b&b in an executive room. All public areas inside and out were clean and well presented and there was plenty of parking. All the staff we encountered were polite and friendly and there were no issues checking in or out.

Our room was a fair way from reception - quite small, but OK for our needs. The bed area had a double and sofa bed and had a modern clean feel to it, including a large flat screen TV, laminate flooring and a wooden sliding screen at the window. The bathroom was older, but clean and functional.

Most importantly, we had a quiet night's sleep without any of the usual door slamming etc. The double mattress we had was a touch on the firm side, but rather that than rolling in to each other.

My wife and daughter used the leisure centre and found it really nice. Not wanting a big meal, I decided to go in search of snacks and found a 24 hour Tesco within a 3 minute drive, by following the road back to the M6 and turning left towards Stoke. There was also a Chinese takeaway and some fast food joints along there.

Breakfast was good, with a nice buffet serving hot and cold items.

All things considered, a good stay and we'd have no problem booking here again.
