“A Relaxing Retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2011

Stayed here for our honeymoon, in the delightful room 5. The service we received was attentive and helpful, where we very much felt that nothing would be too much bother. Perfect location, with the centre of Bowness just a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was lovely, and as much toast as a girl can eat. Lots of other newly weds also there - perfect for a romantic retreat.

To Start the front of the house is very nice, the walk way and sitting area is gorgeous, We had a very warm welcome. We were taken up to our rooms. The room was very nice, comfortable and modern. Staff very friendly! Gorgeous Breakfast, Yoghurts, cereals and full English! Loved it! 5 mins walk away from the lake, and nearby shops and food places. Free Wi-fi which was great! Room’s cleaned everyday, with complimentary little chocolates left on pillows. The bathroom also very clean, free toiletries and bathrobes, gorgeous! Free use of dvds, and ipod docking station! he parking, if there were no spaces in front of the hotel then it is literally a minute walk to the other available car park behind the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to all couples, you will not be disappointed!! So relaxing! Would love to go back!

We went to the Cranleigh Hotel for a romantic night away! I must say the room was amazing! We stayed in the Santuary room, which was actually seperate from the hotel with its own hot tub! I could not fault it! The hot tub was private, a excellent place to relax and just perfect. The bed was amazing, best night sleep we have had and the bathroom was brilliant. The room was spotless you couldnt fault the hotel room. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble, they actually helped me prepare my diet meal that needed a microwave to heat it, that wasnt a problem.
The hotel is central, just a two min walk to the lake, passing lots of resturants and pubs. The parking, if there were no spaces in front of the hotel then it is literally a minute walk to the other avalible car park behind the hotel. I would reccommend this hotel to all couples, you will not be dissapointed! We plan to return asap! So relaxing!

We had a lovely time here and have been telling everyone about it. Tasteful, individually decorated rooms, ipod dock, flat screen TV, spa bath, very luxurious. My husband was in the bath within 30 minutes of arriving and stayed there for over an hour. All the staff we saw during our stay were very helpful and had good local knowledge. This place does advertise itself as a boutique B&B but is good enough to be a luxury hotel ( I understand the difference is with the alcohol license and meal provision). The breakfasts were well cooked and varied, even having a vegetarian full English (still a rarity). The room was a good size, very clean, the bed huge. The bathroom also very clean, free toiletries and bathrobes, with a TV at the end of the enormous bath. Also close to the town centre and a minute from the lake and bus stops if you want to go further afield (we do particularly recommend Grasmere). It is pricey, but it is certainly worth it for a special occasion, we booked for my husband's 40th. All in all a lovely experience. Thank you for a lovely time :)

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are in the eaves so if you want a shower book ground or first floor.

Hi we stayed there for just 1 night in room 6 and the fire alarm must have gone off 5 time which you could imagine was annoying to say the least. We were there to unwind so were just relazing on the bed an every time the alarm went off they were knocking on the door so we would have to make our selfs decent. There was no apology but they were funny with us as if it was us setting the alarm off it was very annoying. Apart from that the hotel was wonderfull.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that the fire alarm disturbed you during your stay. Unfortunately we had a faulty sensor that had to be replaced. As soon as we were aware their was a fault we called an engineer out to fix the problem. We are happy to hear that you thought The Cranleigh was wonderful and we hope to see you again.
