“Romantic Weekend at the Cranleigh”
Reviewed 12 December 2011

We had a lovely 2 night stay in Room 10, the room itself was very plush and luxurious, well decorated and furnished, it was very hard to drag yourself out of the extremely luxuoriuos and immensley comfortable bed and it was great to come back and lay on it after a hard day of walking. The large Jacuzzi bath with its own TV was fab, it helped me while away an hour watching the rugby while the wife got ready to go out!!!! The room itself was on its own at the side of the hotel, it has its own private entrance and seperate decking area, which was lovely to stand out on both on an evening and first thing on a morning.

The location was great, it was only a 2 minute walk into the centre of Bowness with the Bars and restaurants.

Our only negative from the entire stay was that the full english breakfast on both mornings was cold, the quality of it was great with very nice ingredients but it was cold, which was a shame.

We would definately recommend to others and would stay again.

Room Tip: Room 10 was lovely, it was isolated on its own at the side of the building with its own private entr...

We have just returned from staying for 2 nights in Room 14 at The Cranleigh. The room was plush and comfortable although smaller than we expected. The king size bed was really comfortable and we were pleased with the large TV. The air bath and shower were lovely although the bathroom was a little cramped. For the amount we paid there were minimal extra little touches over and above anywhere else we have stayed. The breakfast if not outstanding was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. We could hear noise from upstairs and next door rooms with those above using the spa bath after midnight and next door's TV being heard into the early hours. The spa was disappointing as the pool was very cold so we didn't stay long. We enjoyed the weekend, eating out in Bowness and would recommend The Village Inn. Overall we feel The Cranleigh was very nice but overpriced.

Just returned from a weekend in Windermere and two lovely nights at the Cranleigh. Very comfortable bed, lovely room and a mighty fine eggs benedict at breakfast.

We stayed in rooms 12 and 16 at the cranleigh and they were beautiful, spacious, outstanding rooms. We had a king-size bed and the bathroom had a lovely spa bath. The rooms were immaculate, the breakfast and the choice that came with it was amazing. The staff were the most friendly and help people you would wish to meet. This place is far more than a 5 star hotel and I strongly recommend a stay here, we will most definitely be returning.
It is ideally situated for taking a boat trip on lake windermere, shopping, visiting the beatrix potter experience and dining out in some amazing restaurants, one in particular is highly recommended, an italian called villa positano.
Everything about the cranleigh and were it is situated is perfect.

We stayed for five nights. We were worried about the weather but we need not have. Our deluxe room had all the cozy facilities even for a rainy day in. We enjoyed the breakfast especially the fresh cut fruits which were delicious. We chose the vegetarian breakfast which meant the same menu everyday but all in all this was ok.The staff were helpful, accommodating and efficient. We liked the choice of restaurants near by and the use of spa facilities although we could not avail of the discount: did not know we have to collect a code for the spa as we read later. The turning down service was a pleasant surprise. There are plenty of good shops and restaurants nearby which was good for spending the evening. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.
