Just back after spending the weekend (2 nights) at the Cranleigh, this was a surprise stay for my husbands birthday & our first visit to this hotel. The Cranleigh is a very well presented B&B, very high standard of décor and quality furniture. We stayed in Room 11 which is at the front of the property which was very nice and was also quiet not much noise from the main road at all? The bathroom was a nice size and the spa bath was really nice with mood lighting great to relax in. The bedroom was smaller than I expected so slightly disappointed, the bed & pillows were very comfortable so a good nights sleep is guaranteed.
Minor Issues in the room: The small wardrobe had a terrible smell inside which made our clothes smell too? not sure exactly what was causing this but I did inform them and they put an air freshner in the bottom but this did not help, I had to buy some spray to put on our clothes. Also the used flannel I left on the sink was folded wet with marks on it and rolled up and put out for display and use again? and our bath gel was not replenished? small things I know but when your paying these high prices everything should be perfect.
The breakfast was very nice with a good choice and the staff are very friendly & accommodating.
We did use the Spa facility at the nearby hotel which was ok, we asked for robes & slippers as I had read that these were supplied on site, but we were refused they said you can only have these if you are having treatments.
All together we did enjoy our romantic weekend in a lovely hotel in a great location, with very welcoming and friendly staff. It is very expensive to stay here this was not a problem, however after visiting it is my personal opinion that the room we had and the cost involved was not value for money.

Thank you for taking some time out to review the hotel. We’re really pleased that you thought the hotel to be high standard in terms of the design and the décor, that you enjoyed your breakfast, that the staff were friendly and that we presented ourselves well to you.
I’ve discussed your issue regarding the wardrobe with management and I believe following some further investigations that this was down to a maintenance repair and I can only apologise for this smell and for the flannel and toiletries too as you should definitely have received a new one and had new toiletries topped up also. I have discussed this further with the hotel manager who will train accordingly.

We’re sorry there was confusion with you too regarding the robes and slippers on our website it says;

“The spa package experiences includes unlimited use of the Spa area including the relaxation suite, bathrobe and towel, and all the other facilities that the club has to offer. Enjoy a light lunch and beverage of your choice.”

You do need to take advantage of the 10% discount and purchase a spa package or treatment to get use of the robes and slippers.

We’re really pleased that despite everything you did enjoy your break away with us and that you had a romantic time with your partner.

My Fiancé booked this for a romantic weekend away. It was fantastic. We stayed in the suite with a jacuzzi outside and amazing fire. This place was sophisticated, romantic, chic everything I love. Great location and fab restaurants very close. The staff were extremely helpful. When we arrived to a glass of bubbly. There was TVs in the bathroom, huge television, huge fire, massive beautiful bed. I would reccomend this to anyone that would like a lovely romantic weekend away. Loved every minute x

Well you must have been staying in the Sanctuary suite by your lovely descriptions, which you give; the Jacuzzi mainly gave it away! We’re really glad that you had a fantastic break away with us and that you liked the suite and the location too. Thanks in advance for your recommendations and we’re really glad you loved every minute! Hope to welcome you back to the hotel and the Lakes.

We visited the Cranleigh to celebrate my husbands birthday and our anniversary and it did not fail to impress us both...especially my husband as he did not know where we were going and the suite I booked lived up to the surprise!!! That's if I could get him out of the jacuzzi bath!
From our arrival checking in with Mackela (sorry for spelling!) was genuine and welcoming yet very professional. Answering and advising us on all our questions, the whole weekend could not have gone any better! And would definitely recommend booking in for a spa treatment at the neighbouring Mac Donald hotel and using their facilities was lovely...
Overall our experience was fantastic and we would definitely recommend to anyone who wants that 'special experience' and we will certainly be returning in the future though hoping to try the hideout room!!
Thank you ....

Room Tip: Room 10 suite fantastic!!

We stayed in room 14. The staff were very friendly and showed us to our room where we found a lovely welcome letter and a heart made out of roses with a box of chocolates. The room was warm and spacious. The bathroom was beautiful. The service was fantastic a real 5 start luxury experience. Twice a day our beds were made and a little chocolate surprise was found each time on the bed. The hotel had everything you need and is really conveniently located. We used our spa bath many times and all around a great experience. I can only recommend this hotel as we will definitely be visiting again. This time we will try the sanctuary! Thanks again to everyone!!!

We stayed for 4 nights in the Cranleigh for the second part of our honeymoon. We had spent the previous 7 nights in New York for New Year so we were looking for a relaxing time in the Lakes and we got it! My lovely husband got the romantic package so on arrival we had rose petals on the bed, a single rose, Huggie Bear plus chocolates and champagne! We spent 4 amazing days relaxing with breakfast in our room (huge selection to chose from), watching movies (supplied by the hotel, the options are great), using the twin spa bath and then ambling into town for dinner in the evening.

Staff were friendly and couldn't have done more for us. Every time we spoke with staff they addressed us as Mr and Mrs which was lovely as we didn't get anything like this in New York. They asked about our stay in New York, the wedding etc and really made it feel like a honeymoon as opposed to a break away. An excellent stay and we will definately be going again.

Brilliant news that you had the relaxing break you required. I can imagine it was just fitting after walking round New York! You describe such a chilled out romantic 4 days. Thanks for commenting so kindly on the staff. It’s always nice to get good feedback for them. We’re genuinely happy that you had the honeymoon feel you should so rightfully have and that your stay was excellent. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
