Just returned from a lovely 4 night break at the Cranleigh. We spent the first 3 nights in room 6 which is classed as a luxury room and I would agree it is a luxury room with a beautiful bathroom, mini bar, luxurious furnishings. Lots of little extra touches which make your stay more pleasurable. Because I extended our stay at the last minute we had to move to room 5, also classed as a luxury room, which I would not agree with. Room was very small and some of the furniture a bit shabby, with a scratched dressing table. The bathroom in the main was nice but the air bath was worn on the air flow system buttons and they were very uncomfortable to lay on. Also whilst laid in the bath water escaped unexpectedly, as the plug didn't close completely We were left quite disappointed with this room, having expected it to be like the previous room, being both classed as luxury rooms and paying for such.In my opinion room 5 was at best a superior room and should be charged as such. I must say the move from one room to another was very painless as our bags were moved by the staff. On a more positive note the staff are excellent and a credit to the owners.Very friendly, professional manner even offering us chocolates on the Saturday night when we decided to stay in and enjoy the room. Breakfast was excellent with a fantastic choice and served piping hot by very present, professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We would stay here again but would probably look to stay in a room at the back of the hotel as the road at the front is quite noisy. The service was better than we have had in any 5 star resorts we have stayed in all over the world.

Thank you very much for writing a review on the hotel we’re really glad that you had a lovely break away with us. Room 6 is a newer room, which is probably why you noticed the difference between the two however both rooms are of the same standard to which we class a Luxury Room. We take your feedback on board though of course and we will assess if we can make any changes to improve.
Thanks very much for commenting on the excellent staff and the pleasurable breakfasts too.
It’s a great comment to read “The service was better than we have had in any 5 star resorts we have stayed in all.”

We hope to welcome you back in the future, feel free to contact reception rather than booking online so that we can accommodate you perfectly.

We stayed in the Escape Suite for 2 nights and it was a 5 star experience from start to finish. Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was spectacular and breakfast brought to our room each morning was great. Cannot recommend this beautiful boutique highly enough and will definitely be returning.

We stayed for a weekend to get away for a relaxing break. The Cranleigh is the best hotel stay we have had in the uk if not europe. We stay in hiltons marriots crowne plazas five star hotels and we found this to be so much better. Luxury is a must at any top hotel but combine it with the little things the personal touches it makes it so much better than the rest. If you want to have a top romantic break in the UK, you will find it hard to find a hotel that comes anywhere close to the cranleigh. We will certainly be going back v soon.

Just returning from a 2 night stay at the sanctuary suite in the cranleigh, what a superb experience. Me and my girl had booked it months ago, and we were not disappointed. Everything was 5 star. The welcome, the staff, the suite, the food, and the outdoor private hot tub wow!

The staff were efficient, helpful, cheerful and polite. The room was unreal. Clean and we'll presented. The hotel itself is in a perfect location. Seconds walk from bars and restaurants, and lake Windermere! The parking was superb. Plenty of room. I can't recommend this place enough. All my family and friends are looking. The Cranleigh could not have done any more for us. It's the little things that matter to us, and the cranleigh delivered in every way. Trust me, if you stay here, stay in the sanctuary. Private, quiet and luxury. Bose surround system. Ambient mood lighting. Remote gas fire. Remote skylights. Complimentary sherry. Crystal glass. Mini bar (good prices). The hot tub is class. Bose outdoor speakers. Chill with some champers listening to Calvin Harris haha. Brilliant. Also breakfast is personally brought to your door on time, baking hot and freshly made. We will be booking again soon! Thank you for a memorable special weekend cranleigh!!

Just got home from a 3 night stay in The Hideout, booked as a surprise for my husband to celebrate 20 years together. I agree with a lot of the comments made by Michael G who stayed in February.
Check in at the Cranleigh went smoothly with Elena giving us the keys and a map of how to get to the house. After initially driving straight past it, we realised our mistake and soon pulled into the parking space reserved for the house without any further issues. The outside of the house is nothing like you would imagine and explains why there are no photos of it on the website. But the minute you open the door you realise that appearances certainly can be deceptive and you've just walked into paradise.
You enter on the first floor where the bedroom and bathroom are situated. Upstairs is a large open plan kitchen and living room equipped with all mod cons including a massive 3D TV and a small balcony. Downstairs is the most amazing room ever complete with jacuzzi bath for 2, shower, cocktail bar and gigantic tele. The entire house is decorated in sumptuous and oppulant fashion, which was not entirely to my taste, but I could certainly appreciate the quality of the furnishings and the fine attention to detail. The combined effect of the decor and the mood lighting definately set the tone for a relaxing and intimate stay. The jacuzzi bath, the choice of TVs, the complimentary cocktail bar, the extensive DVD library and all the other gadgets mean that you just want to lock the door behind you and not step foot outside again. Indeed the first two nights we did exactly that and ordered takeaway - but we did eat out on our last night. The house is a very short stroll from the centre of town.
On to the negatives then - there are a few but none of them managed to spoil our stay. We certainly wouldn't have wanted to stay for just one night. With check in at 3pm and check out at 11am there is not enough time to get to grips with all the gadgets that you have at your disposal and make full use of the facilities. It took us the majority of our stay to get to grips with the technology (and hubby is a technology geek). Connections seemed a bit flaky in places and we weren't sure if things weren't working properly or if we were just doing it wrong. The welcome pack also seemed to have quite a few pages missing which might have proved useful.
The bed was the biggest issue for me - but I do realise that this is down to personal preference. One reviewer has said that the bed cuddles you to sleep and many people have said that its the best night's sleep they've ever had. I can see how so many people have this opinion as the pillows and duvet are very soft and are certainly of very high quality. However, the bed itself is also very soft and seems to dip in the middle giving the feeling of sleeping in a hammock. If, like myself, you need a firm mattress to give some support to your neck, back and hips, this is not a recipe for a good night's sleep. All three nights were very uncomfortable for me and I spent the majority of the time balanced on the very edge of the bed as this was the firmest part and gave me some respite. I would definitely recommend that the owners carry out a review of their mattresses in order to gauge their firmness rating and include this information on the website so that people can choose the bed in the room that suits their particular preferences.
The bathroom in the house is small, which in itself is fine because their is a huge bath and shower downstairs and I doubt whether the bath in the bathroom has ever been used. However, the positioning of the towel rail in relation to the loo is rather an issue. It is impossible to sit on the loo without burning yourself on the scalding hot towel rail. Even sitting side saddle on the loo is precarious and the positioning of the loo roll holder is just laughable. Either the towel rail should be repositioned, the bathroom made a bit bigger by using a bit more of the landing or the bath should be completely removed leaving the room with just a loo and basin.
Despite these gripes we did enjoy our stay and maybe when we've saved up enough money to return we might well do so - hopefully there will be a new bed by then.

Thanks ever so much for taking some time to review the Hideout Boutique. We’re really pleased with your description of the hotel as being in ‘paradise’ and that you feel you both had a relaxing intimate stay here at the Hideout house with us. It is very much a haven, which you don’t want to leave as you suggest.

Thanks for highlighting that there might be things missing from the welcome pack; we will ensure that this is amended for our next guests, there must have been something of interest in there!
The bed is a luxurious bed as you suggest one of high quality and one which we have had excellent feedback for previously and we’re sorry that it didn’t suit your personal preference - it’s simply impossible to match every ones personal tastes on this.

In terms of the bathroom (upstairs) we do actually have some time set aside to completely renovate this area. The bathroom was part of the original house and due to the high quality of it we left this bathroom in. We have had this feedback before and we listened to it hence the plans in place to change this to a Luxury Shower Room …all to be changed in the not too distant future.

We’re really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and we do hope to welcome you back in the future, regarding your preference on the bed if you wish to book in the future please do phone reception and we will happily help you with this area – bad backs are never good!

Thanks again and all the best

We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, and couldn't have picked anywhere better. We used one of the offers available (2nts, bottle of fizz & a lake cruise) and thought it was good value. From check in to check out we were made to feel welcome by the very helpful staff. The room (2) was spotless and the service at breakfast was faultless. We made use of the spa which is only a small stroll away, and it was very relaxing for the both of us. Love to stay again in the near future.
