“Tremendous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2010

From start to finish we receieved the best service possible. We were greeted with a big smile from the lady on reception and shown to a lovely spacious well decorated room along with it's own jacuzzi bath which we had to sample straight away! The towels were the finest cotton and thick and soft to the touch. The bed was one of the most comfortable i have ever slept in and with the large screen plasma on the wall we never wanted to get out of the bed! The second night we stayed we needed to move rooms which we already knew about and we were excited to do so. We left our bags packed and when we rechecked in later on in the day our bags and coats had been moved to an equally gorgeous room.
The location was perfect just a two minute walk into the village were you can find everthing you need. It has more than enough restaurants, pubs and bars to suite everyone.
Truely a fantastatic stay and will be back!

We had a short one night brake for our anniversary. We stayed in room 16, which is a luxury room and were very impressed with the room and service. The room is a bit small but is decorated to a high standard and the bathroom is stunning with a jet bath which has room for two people. Highly recommended.

Having trawled the internet for weeks trying to find the perfect getaway for my husbands 40th birthday we finally decided on the cranleigh, the major deciding factor apart from the amazing pictures and features on the website was the fact that it was adult only, I dont normally have a problem staying at a hotel which allows children but this was the first weekend break in seven years we had taken without our own children. We arrived at approximately 4.00pm on the friday tea time and had no problem getting a parking space, upon entering the hotel we were warmly greeted by the young lady on reception who asked if we needed help with our bags, she then showed us to room number five which is an amazing luxury room room at the front of the house, everything you could ever wish for was in the room and you could tell immediatley the time, effort and expense that had gone into the room, the cleanliness was second to none all the extra little touches were lovely such as the complimentary chocolates and bottled water and the umbrellas which were a godsend as i had forgot to pack my own!!!
The first morning we went for breakfast and out of all the hotels and guest houses I have stayed in all over the world I have never met such lovely friendly professional waiting staff they are a real credit to the hotel, I cannot express enough the top notch service we recieved, they were welcoming and always had a smile on their faces and to top it of the breakfast was superb. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting the perfect romantic getaway and please ignore the hanful of reviews who did not like this hotel I have stayed in many four and five star hotels and they were not a patch on the cranleigh, for the service we recieved you really cannot put a price on it and we are already planning to visit again next year.

We spent ages trying to decide where to stay in the lake district for a short break. We wanted a really nice room, but also a decent pool and preferably spa facilities. We were going to book the Old England hotel, but in the end went for the Cranleigh, excited by the amazing images of the rooms on their website, and also the fact that by staying there you were given free access to the spa and swimming pool at the Old England hotel. It seemed like a nicer place to stay for a lower cost - and we weren't disappointed.

We stayed 4 nights in Room 16 followed by 2 nights in "the hideaway". Room 16 was on the ground floor (in a separate building set apart from the main guest house) and although you might say (as someone below did) that the room was a little on the small side, it was fine for us, and compared well with many other places we've stayed. What really got us though was the beautiful bathroom, with its mood LED lighting and integrated TV to relax to while you enjoyed a powerful spa bath experience.

The breakfast each morning was fantastic, and although the B&B seemed quite full there was never any problem getting a table when we came for breakfast (that was served until 10am each day). Service was impeccable, and the food was of a consistently high standard - someone commented on the lack of a full continental option, but there was a considerable choice (beyond the "Cranleigh cooked breakfast" that we enjoyed every day) and there was not the slightest problem receiving anything extra we asked for. Additionally the furnishings and tableware were very obvously of a high standard and even small details were conspiculously maintained, such as every day our cooked breakfast being brought out on a hot plate.

The parking at the front and back of the guest house was always busy, but after a few days I mentioned this at the front desk and I was given a pass for my car in a private car park that is very close to the hotel - if you are staying you should ask for this pass so you have the option each day in case the main car park spaces are full.

Our only regret turned out to be that we had only booked 2 nights in "the Hideaway" which was just a stunning suite. The lounge area was spacious and with a huge 50 inch TV and comfortable couch to relax in. The bed was a super-king size and the pillows had a very luxurious feel to them. If we were being hyper-critical, the bed (as well as the one in Room 16) was too soft for us and did stop us having an entirely comfortable night's sleep, but this is such a personal choice most people would not have this issue at all. The bathroom was just amazing - the double spa bath had plenty of room for us both, and again the mood LED lighting made such a difference. Additionally there was a double shower enclosure, and both shower heads had flashing LED lighting when you turned them on (which if I was being picky I would say looked quite tacky) but the shower experience was also very pleasant. The icing on the cake though was when we realised that as we were in a suite we could have our breakfast delivered to our room each morning. This was just another small way in which we felt were being pampered.

In summary, we would hugely recommend others to stay here. We have never stayed in a B&B that was so luxurious and so obviously dedicated to the highest of standards. The location was fantastic, being so close to the (excellent) spa and other facilities in the centre of town, but the main reason to stay here is simply that the owner and employees obviously take such a pride in every part of the service they are offering, and you can see how much time, effort and money has been put in to creating such a lovely guest house. On our last night I asked if it might be possible to have a bottle of champagne I had with me from our wedding day put on ice in our room for when we returned later in the day - it was left out in a beautiful ice cooler with a pristine towel around the neck and likewise underneath on a tray with two champagne flutes for us. My wife was absolutely delighted and we had a beautiful evening together. This kind of attention sums up the Cranleigh. Thank you so much for a memorable experience.

This Guest House is rated as 5* by AA. It's a guest house as you can only have B&B but only the lack of a restaurant for lunch and dinner stops it from being a boutique hotel. The rooms have recently been refurbished. Beware though as we had Room 16 described as a luxury room on their website but it was extrememly small and we paid £140p.n. Saying that it was comfortable and could have done with a larger wardrobe and more drawers fro clothes. The bathroom is beautifully fitted with a lovely shower and jacuzzi bath but again small - not enough room for 2 people to use the sink at the same time. Breakfast was a bit monotonous after spending 7 days there. You have a choice of 2 cereal, a bowl of grapefruit or a bowl of fruit salad which you help yourself to. There is only a choice of orange or apple juice and I think the latter was watered down. You can order a cooked breakfast including veggie option. I think considering the price they charge for rooms they could offer a continental style breakfast as well. The service was good though and you weren't kept waiting too long after ordering and the breakfast room was always full indicating this a popular place to stay despite the prices. Overall, I quite liked it as a B&B, certainly above the normal standards in terms of the quality of the furnishings and all tastefully done. I wouldn't recommend it if you have children though, it's more suitable for couples.

Everything about the Cranleigh was fantastic - the room , the service, the location and the food. We stayed in room 10 on the ground floor and the room was beautiful and spacious. We had a double airbath and a balcony which was great. The owners and the staff are lovely and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back!

This was our 2nd stay at The Cranleigh. Having tried different accomodation prior to using The Cranleigh, we were happy to stumble across it last year. From start to finish, the attention and humour from Owner Tony which pervades through all the friendly staff leaves you wanting more. We were in a room at the top (9), very comfortable beautiful room and fantastic bathroom.Ample breakfast. Used the leisure facilities, acouple of minutes walk away which were in keeping with the standardof The Cranleigh We will be back next year for our 20th anniversary, but will definitely be in one of Hideaway or Sanctuary. Keep up the good work.
