“The Warm Welcome You Need”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013 via mobile

You are instantly made to feel welcome at Fairfield, with warm greetings and helpful staff. The rooms are well thought out with a warm, soft and cosy theme running throughout. If the weather permits, the garden is a great place to spend an evening, failing that the sizeable lounge offers wonderful comfort after a long day of exploring. The morning breakfast was wonderfully prepared and served, offering a wide range of foods, including full English, fruits, cereal etc. A fantastic way to start your day. Worth noting; several parking spaces available, four poster beds rooms, whirlpool bath rooms, close to town centre.

We were made extremely welcome from the time we arrived. Four poster room overlooking the garden was clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The owner and staff gave us much information about places we wished to visit. We would not hesitate to stay again if in the area.

Thanks for your kind words, we really enjoy helping guests who need it, it is one of the nicest parts of running a B&B in a busy visitor area. Glad also that you enjoyed the room, we hope to see you back some day. Tony

Stayed at the Fairfield 3rd-5th August. Had a most enjoyable stay. Stayed in four poster deluxe room, overlooking garden, which was very nice. Breakfast was lovely, and would recommend anyone to stay here. Staff were very helpful, and would not hesitate to return

Guest house is in an excellent location, so long as hills aren't a problem. But the rooms are small and dated and could also do with some repairs/cleaning. There was mould on celing and the shelf in bathroom was held together with gaffa tape. With no bottom cover so the electrical connections where exposed to water. Over priced and rated for what it was also the female owner was quite rude whilst serving.

From the moment I walked through the door to the last moments of my stay I felt like a family member and loved.
The Fairfield is lovely, fantastic sized rooms, friendly owners beautiful grounds , fresh happy breakfast room friendly staff.
I was lucky enough to have stayed in the penthouse what a great room massive shower separate WC, romantic lighting, wonderful big towels, king size bed, surround sound music system big screen TV air conditioning / heating . ( wish I had company that night) :(
Easy off street parking.
A short but steep walk into Windermere with it beautiful lake .
I was so pleased to find Fairfield House & gardens.
Remember please mention my name to Mine hosts Tony & Liz.

Room Tip: just stay here its fantastic.

This place ticks all the boxes. Tony and Liz have done a remarkably good job in presenting this superb B&B in its best light. Our arrival was a warm and welcome from Tony and nothing was too much trouble for him during our stay.

Fairfield House is situated close to the centre of Bowness in Windermere and it is an easy downhill walk from there to the centre of town and the restaurants. One word of caution - after you've been into town and had a good meal with a couple of bevvies, it's a killer walk back up the hill !! Our room was spotless and a credit to whoever serviced it so superbly each day.

Breakfasts are tasty and well presented, the guy (I didn't learn his name) who runs the breakfast room was very attentive and looked after us very well indeed. There are well maintained gardens at the back of the house which are available for use by smokers or anyone wishing to eat breakfast in the sunshine. In the evenings, Tony is happy to serve drinks in the Lounge at prices not greatly removed from what you would pay in a licenced restaurant.

As the house is set well back from the road, there is little or no noise from the passing traffic even with a fairly steep hill just outside.

The next time we are in the Lake District we'll be sure to stay there again.

Room Tip: None really - all the rooms seem to be as good as each other

Managing a large Trust mansion in Northumberland and having to save carefully for such excursions our expectations tend to be high! Not disappointed. Very friendly reception on arrival with an honest and open attitude! I take a bit of getting used to but both Tony and his wife, sorry hopeless remembering names, made us feel very welcome. Lovely evening on the first day so requested a bottle of red wine. Tony went to the extra length of explaining why listed reds were not available, due to supplier issues, but brought bottles out to us in the garden where we selected and consumed an excellent Merlot. More to come, breakfast! The best I've had for years and, again, excellent service. The breakfast the second day confirmed the quality and we were more than happy even after waiting nearly an hour for it! Cannot sing the praise for the Fairfield enough and yes there is better out there, at a cost, and room for small improvements but good grief give them a chance.

Thanks for your review. Fantastic that we were able to exceed your expectations, always hard for one provider assessing another. Not sure what happened with the breakfast, we try to to exceed 20 mins, will loook into that. And of course a glass of wine always helps and the garden is a wonderful place to chill at this time of year. Thanks and Regards.
