“Enjoyable break”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Lovely couple of days break away Room was a wee bit on the small side but very comfortable. reasonable rates for B&B and breakfast was excellent . Would certainly stay there again if we go back to Bowness-on-Windermere but we found the prices in town very expensive

Room Tip: Guest House is at the top of a steep hill

We have just spent a couple of nights in Bowness, Windermere and were made very welcome at the Fairfield. The guest house is reasonably priced, comfortable, some rooms and better than others, relaxing and the breakfasts were very good.

Room Tip: Room 2 has a double bath and double shower and looks over the garden.

Lovely older home converted into suites. Tony was great in greeting and showing us around. The room was lovely, nicely decorated with all kinds of 'extras'. Nice furnishings. Wonderful baths. Wifi was spotty. Best in the common areas. Very nice breakfast.

Location of where we stayed was ideal as it was within walking distance of the harbour & lake. Owners were very friendly and the house had a beautiful garden. The room where we stayed was a bit small on the ground floor overlooking the garden & few guests did pass by the window so not too private. Recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a few nights at the lakes but I would pay extra to be on first floor.

We've just returned from our first Lakes trip & can't believe it's taken us 53 years to discover them!!
We decided on Sunday evening to journey from our home in the New Forest to have a spontaneous 'stay cation' in another National Park..... We conducted our research via Trip Advisor & the Lake District website...... The Fairfield appeared to tick the box, especially the penthouse (Bowness Suite) which we initially booked for one night & were so impressed we stayed for 4!!!!
We arrived later than anticipated, due to a puncture, yet the greeting we received from our host, Tony, was first class. We instantly warmed to his affable, polite & enthusiastic personality. He is a mind of information ( a one man tourist guide). His vision, in terms of the suite we stayed in, meant we had a fab loft room (mind your head!!) with a spa bath, mood lighting & get this.....a large double shower in a dormer window with far reaching views....... Spectacular!!!
Victor, our host at the splendid breakfast, was friendly, efficient & hugely entertaining. The gardens were picturesque & the location was central, yet peaceful. Can you tell I'm an Estate Agent?
Tony provided us with an encyclopaedic array of info, allowing us to travel the length & breadth of the Lakes, by car, enjoying some of the most spectacular views we have ever enjoyed home or abroad...... You must travel Wrynose Pass, Hardknott Pass, The Struggle ( & have a beer at Kirkstone Pass) Honister Pass & of all the amazing lakes you must view Wast Water...... We packed in 300 plus miles in our trip, we rode horses, we sailed boats, we met Benjamin Bunny at HillTop, we ate at The Bluebird Cafe on Coniston, we took tea in a spectacular elevated setting overlooking Windermere, at Miller Howe & we still had time to sit & relax in Tony & Liz's peaceful gardens!!!
The weather was a real bonus & we can't wait to return, maybe in the Autumn or Winter to experience another 'fix' of this addictive area....... Personally if you get the chance call Liz & Tony..... They are your perfect hosts!!!!

recently we went to lake district to enjoy our graduate vacation and we stayed in Fairfield for three nights. it is literally the best place in Windermere. Fairfield is really close to brownness city town, and you can go to lake side in 10 minutes, but also fairfield is not in the central of city, so it would be really quite. The neighborhood of fairfield is really decent and beautiful. the host is really nice and thoughtful, we live in I have to mention the really beautiful garden of Fairfield, everywhere is good view. the breakfast is amazing as well. if you want to have a relax holiday, fairfield is really a good place to stay

Room Tip: you have to choose deluxe double room 你最好选择高级大床房

We had a wonderful family vacation and the most comfortable stay in our entire trip of 15 days. The Guest House is too good with very comfortable beds, excellent bathroom, wonderful garden, exotic breakfast, close vicinity to the lake, centrally located and to top it all hospitality par excellence. The people here are so very good and went all the way to ensure that we have a memorable stay. Yes it was a memorable stay, thanks to the people at Fairfield guest house.
