“Absolutely lovely! ”
Reviewed 17 April 2014 via mobile

I would recommend this guest house to anybody! We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely return!

The building overlooks Lake Windermere giving you gorgeous views every time you look out of your windows. These views alone make this guest house worth staying at!

The room itself was perfect for what we needed. Wardrobe, drawers, bedside cabinets, TV and the bed was extremely comfortable! We slept like babies!

Mark and Emma were fantastic! We had 2 mountain bikes, they gave us a safe place to keep them. We used their garden to stargaze using a telescope, they climbed up the wall and covered the security light sensor to give us the darkness we needed. The heating had a problem, so while we were out they put an electric heater on in our room making it nice and warm for our return (they were extremely apologetic about any inconvenience the heating may have caused but the electric heater was more than enough!) And finally they served a delicious breakfast every morning with a smile!

Great stay.
Great location.
Would recommend to all!

This is a real gem, Mark and Emma have a fantastic place with bags of character, from check in to check out they could not have been more helpful, wonderful breakfast with local produce and great views, the room was just perfect, really comfy bed and the parking right outside ideal. It was a real shame to leave and we will be back as soon as we can, great time, great B&B, one of the best places we have ever stayed!.

Hawkrigg Guest House what a wonderful place to stay! We were in the middle of a 10 week trip from Australia and Hawkrigg Guesthouse in Far Sawrey was a great stopover. Spotless room with a beautiful view of Lake Windermere, a truly delicious breakfast with delightful owners Emma and Mark making us feel "at home".
Access to a fridge and microwave in the common room was a bonus.
We can highly recommend "Hawkrigg" especially if you like easy parking and quiet surrounds with
just a skip across the lake to a busy town centre.

After taking a wrong turn and driving down a long narrow windy lane we finally found Hawrigg and the exterior is very beautiful. We arrived after 5ish and it was dark. The key to our room was left on the side with a note which we did not mind at all. Our room was smaller than what we thought it be from the pictures. The view of Windermere lake was lovely. The whole room was clean and we had tea and coffee facilities with biscuits which was a nice touch. We went out for tea into Ambleside which is a 15-20 minutes away. We came back expecting to see the owners or other guests but noone was around.
In the morning breakfast is served 8.30 - 9am, we pre-ordered the night before. Cereals, fruit and juice is available on the side counter. Check out is 10am. Overall it is a lovely place to stay for the night or two.

Wrong side of the lake??? I wasn't aware that there is a right and a wrong side! Perhaps in your opinion, but how is that a review of our guest house??

Arrived late than expected, about 22.00. Emma had left the key for our room with a note in the entrance hall which we appreciated.

The room was big, clean, nicely decorated with a big comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities and a tv. Emma also left the code for the free wifi with the keys which was useful.

The guesthouse is well located. About 15 minute walk to the ferry into bowness, 25mins in the opposite direction into hawkshead. It was lovely and peaceful and my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away.

Breakfast was perfect! Good quality sausages and bacon, perfectly fried eggs, big pot of tea... What more could you want?!

Thanks for a great stay. Will definitely consider staying again

Really recommend this bed and breakfast ,so peaceful and quite and lovely views of lake Windermere. Good base if you are a keen walker and a couple of pubs down the road for evening meals. Beds very comfortable and rooms brilliant. We only stayed two nights but loved it.

Room Tip: Room 4 has its own bathroom, but it's just outside the room over the landing so take a bathrobe.

No one was in when we arrived but a room key and a note was left out. We went out for supper and half expected to see Emma or Mark the owners on our return, but we didn't. It felt strange staying in someone's house when we hadn't met them. The next morning Emma's father was on breakfast serving duty, he was very nice and friendly and breakfast was great, all freshly cooked to order. We did get to meet Emma and she was very friendly and helpful. We never did meet Mark. The room although a little hard to manoeuvre around the furniture had a lovely view over the lake and was spotlessly clean. We wouldn't think twice about staying here again, Emma is so lovely and its a great location.

Room Tip: The front rooms have a lovely view
