Stayed here with friends on a one night offer including breakfast, 4 course dinner and upgraded room. Can't fault anything. Its a lovely hotel overlooking Lake Windermere. Old Country house with a real homely feel. Oozzs comfort and luxury. Will most certainly go back.

Enjoyed a stay in one of the new rooms which are beautifully done with superb attention to detail. We have always enjoyed the food at Linthwaite but on this occasion it has stepped up another level. One of the best dinners I have had this year - compliments to the chef!

The hotel's location was awesome and views from the hotel really breathtaking. If you are visiting lake district, this is the place to stay.

We stayed in this country house hotel for two nights, and totally loved the place. The rooms are very cosy, with good views. Its Décor is contemporary, with English taste, in an understated Ralph Lauren style – smart stripes, patterned wallpaper. We stayed in the deluxe room and the size was ok, not too spacious but good enough and they feel luxurious.

Breakfast was good, staff service was good and they were friendly.

Its different fromthe tall, modern hotels but in a good way.

If you fancy a treat in a lovely hotel set in well kept grounds with an excellent and breathtakingview and great sevice then Linthwaite is highly recommended.

Great for honeymoon couples!!!!

Got off to a bad start. Parked car by reception and unloaded and went to reception. Transpired our room was back outside (it was raining at the time) and along the frontage do we had to carry the luggage back out. Heating not very good in room but, to be fair, the problem was fixed next day. Public rooms very comfortable and restaurant very good. Total cost for two of us was £851 for two days including food and beverages. Was unhappy to receive a phone call after leaving saying that the forgotten tie left in wardrobe could be sent on to us at a cost up to £2 to post. Would I recommend? Yes, to my rich friends

We booked the linthwaite for my best friends birthday suprise having read the reviews here and we were extremely happy with our stay. The weather was pretty grim but we got a view out of the room of a pretty rainbow over lake windermere to compensate! The hotel is beautiful, especially in the sitting rooms and dining areas, the rooms were a little too modern in decor for my personal tastes and i kind of wish they were decorated to the style of the period of the property but obviously the masses tastes lean more towards this and It wasnt oppressively modern, the beds were fantastically comfortable and everything we needed was in the room, from hairdryers to lists of local walks. The meal was great, Its definitely fine cusine, slightly below the 1 michelin star places we've been too but only just, although a little filling for me! The starters were a bit more adventurous (which we like) than the mains but well worth trusting the chef for some interesting flavours. The staff were just the right side of friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. My friend had some of the treatments offered by the hotel in her room and she thought they were great!

Overall quite an expensive weekend but definitely worth it, we'll remember our stay fondly and hopefully return when we can stay a bit longer and try more of the food.

My wife and I (both in early 30's) stayed for two amazing nights at the beginning of Nov. It’s a beautiful hotel in an amazing location with very friendly staff and 5* food. We will definitely be heading back soon.

We decided on a few days in the Lakes and how pleased we chose Linthwaite House, charming, but not pretentious and so very cosy. It was a truly delightful experience. We arrived on a cold and wet afternoon, but the warm welcome we received, the glowing log fire and a most delicious afternoon tea (oh those scones, lemon tarts and chocolate brownies!) in the comfy lounge very quickly made us forget the weather.
The hotel's location is wonderful -overlooking the lake and hills, and with lovely and extensive gardens - you just want to sit and look. Our room was a cosy haven - a most comfy bed, views over the lake, and all the little extras you could wish for. And then there was dinner - what a treat. The chef and team produced some of the best food we have eaten anywhere - the selection, presentation and flavours in every course were amazing, from the canapes right through to the petit fours, everything was special. The service too was excellent, the staff just there when you needed them, always smiling and helpful.
We did manage to drag ourselves away from the hotel, to walk, shop and visit some local places of interest including Blackwell (Arts and Crafts House) which is just a mile or so away and well worth a visit. Linthwaite is a perfect place to return to at the end of the day; we will definitely be returning for another visit.
