Laura Ashley Hotel The Belsfield
Certificate of Excellence

Took my partner for a three night break over Easter this year to celebrate her birthday. Found this hotel to be of a very good standard with massive double bedroom and large sitting room all with excellent room facilities. The hotel has plenty of character and has an interesting history hence why the rooms are very large.
The breakfast is self service and if you do not like the typical english breakfast then choice is very limited with the exception that other breakfasts are on the menu but will have a supplementary charge to be paid. Evening meals are of excellent standard and staff are all very friendly and helpfull, and will go out of their way to help you.
Excellent views of the lake and hotel is set in lovely gardens which will probably be very nice in the summer

Room Tip: upper rooms which have lake views are very large and comfortable

What a location - one of the most beautiful views you could wish for and a great central location withing walking distance of most things but quiet enough to be a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle down below.
The staff were most obliging at every opportunity, the room was very clean and had everything you could need, the breakfast was very good with so much choice and we sat in the bay window overlooking the lake for over an hour enjoying it!
The hotel may not be to everyone's taste as some of it is a little dated and tired in places, but that in no way detracts from it's splendid position, great service and fantastic value for money.
I would go back tomorrow and wish I was!

My wife and I stayed for a 2 nights deal through Living Social which came in at £149.00 for 2 breakfasts and one evening meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Great views from the dining room out over the lake to the surrounding mountains. The breakfast was adequate, no comparison with Spanish hotels in terms of the range of foods available, but we were quite happy. The evening meal was very good: great starter and trout/salmon main course which was spot-on. We particularly liked the desserts as well. There was a nice and comfortable feel to the place, it felt most relaxing. Only downside was the room (#63) was very hot during the night (even with the radiator turned off) in spite of the -2degC outside temperatures.
Lastly, a big thank you to the senior sous chef James Godfrey who took the time to write down the bread-making recipe - great bread by the way.

Room Tip: Ask staff about room temperature in the night time... A local pub in Bowness was very expensive for...

We stopped for a night on the spring special deal for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was our second stay. Our room was spacious, clean and well decorated although the furniture was well used. The views over the lake were fantastic. The deal Dinner bed and breakfast £129 was fair value. The evening meal was 5* The breakfast was self service with quality ingredients. The staff were excellent especially Sally.
What we really like is the location of the hotel, 2 minutes from our favourite Bowness pub. We arrived, we parked and didn't have to use the car until we left.
We will definately return.

Room Tip: Lake views are beautiful.

We stayed at the Belsfield over Easter weekend and had a fab time. The hotel is lovely and has a perfect location, with views of the lake and a private path that takes you down to the pier and boats. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the lovely lady on reception. Our bed was huge and the room was really spacious.

The only negatives about the hotel are that overall it looks a little tired and could do with a revamp. Also the breakfast room view is amazing but the breakfast itself is average.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to our friends. With a bit of a spruce up and a better breakfast the hotel could improve on its 3 star rating.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view

The hotel is due to be refurbished in May as its a huge grand hotel which needs a tidy up but we had a good time last December and loved the location. We arrived to find our room had the most beautiful view overlooking the huge landscape gardens and the lake. I asked straight away if we could book for a second room and the friendly receptionship was keen to help until she asked the sullen manager. He said no without any expression ! Not really good customer service . He did not even look at another room but he was the only negative point. The location is great. Two mins walk to the lake and shops. The rest of the staff were so helpful and friendly. Our evening meal was amazing. We did not use the pool as there was so much to see . It is a shame about the sullen manager as we would have enjoyed a longer stay. We would recommend this hotel and looking forward to seeing it after it has the work done in May.

Got this short break at The Belfield as a birthday presant from my son. Staying from 25th March. After reading some guest reviews about this Hotel I wasnt to keen in going, but once there I was astonished on how wrong the reviews were, ( Can't please everyone, I suppose ) .I loved the Hotel, very grand + charming. Bedrooms were nicely decoratated, big bed (dreamy soft) Tv, tea/coffee fascilitys on hand. En suite with bath + shower .View from resturant is as spectacular as the hotel itself, (breathtaking snow covered mountains beyond the beautifull lake) Cruise boat waiting on the Jettie to ferry you to other parts. Fab food served in resturant by very professional staff, catering to your every need, special thanks to Ian + Patreathier ( hope I've spelt her name right ) for making our stay perfect. Have already recommended this hotel to everyone that askes about my 2nights away. we'll certainly be back again :-) 5 stars from us. Could upgrade for a room with a view, but why!! Rooms only for sleeping. Enjoy the the view from outside, we did and it was cold + snowing
