We booked for 3 nights on the back of the great reviews on T.A. at £142 per room per night B+B Executive Lake View via Laterooms ,and although not the most expensive room we've ever paid for , we still had relatively high expectations.
Good points;
-location is great, with wonderful lake views from dining/bar areas. Right in centre of Bowness, so fantastic choice of restaurants.
-staff seemed to be mainly Hungarian and were fantastic, offering superb service.
-rooms seemed to be recently refurbished and good bathrooms.
-spa really good, with steam,sauna and ice room. Good size pool.

Bad points;
- not much atmosphere- in some ways seemed like an upmarket Travel Lodge!
-At £142 per night I don't expect to have to pay extra for a cooked breakfast- seems like they are just trying to extract as much money out of you as possible.
-After spending £11.25 for a large glass of house wine and bottle of beer, we decided to not drink in the bar again.
-We were allocated Room 229 as 'an upgrade'. Unfortunately it was a (large) attic room but unfortunately the extra space, and extra large bed didn't make up for the half window. You had to stand up to see the view and the room was dark. There was also an interconnecting door which meant you could hear the TV (which wasn't on that loud) and most other things from the adjoining room. By 11 pm we'd had enough so phoned reception and asked to be moved, and to be fair we were moved straight away......just something we could have done without. The Executive Room we were moved to was OK, quiet, had a view but nothing special for the price.
We don't plan on going back to this hotel, but would definitely go back to Bowness. The Porto Italiano restaurant in Bowness should get a special mention- some of the best food we've eaten in a long time, especially after the walk to the top of Helvellyn!!

Impressive hotel in a great location, just off the main road for the shops and the town, whilst the restaurant overlooked the lake and was in a stunning position.

Car parking was well organised by the hotel as the hotel was full.

Good breakfast and excellent evening meal. Room was clean, well serviced although we had a slightly noisy room due to its location.

Overall very impressive hotel in a great location for everything in the area.

I booked this hotel for my husbands birthday. we arrived at the hotel mid afternoon while booking into the hotel the concierge parked our car in the free car park. We did not book a lake view room and had a pleasant surprise when we went to our room in the annex
the window was the full width of the room with great views across the lake.We had pre booked evening meals on both nights, and the quality of food and the service of the staff was excellent. We had our meal while watching the sun set which was lovely. All the staff we spoke to in the hotel were freindly and helpful. A big thankyou for our breakfast tray in our room on the first morning. My Husband had a bad migraine and had missed breakfast i asked at reception if they could send something up for him. When i returned from the chemist they had sent one up free of charge.We would return to this hotel again in the future.Nice relaxing hotel with good facilities and excellent location, Once again a big thankyou to all the staff.

The hotel was situated right by the lake and took advatange of the beautiful views in the dining room and swimming pool areas. Our room was a very good size and clean. The bed was large and comfortable. We dined in the restaurant on the first night and the service and the food was excellent and deserved the rating it has been given. At breakfast we enjoyed the same service with a good selection of food from the continental selection they had on offer.

We enjoyed the spa facilies which included an ice room, sauna and stream room. The swimming pool was also very relaxing and big.

The only niggle we did have were the London prices of the drinks in the bar for very small bottles.

Booked via a TravelZoo offer, the hotel is right on the lake in the middle of Bowness on Windermere, near shops, pubs and restaurants. Once the car was parked in hotel carpark (free) there was no need to drive again which was great. We ate both nights in the hotel - food was lovely as was service. Staff struggled a bit at breakfast due to a large number of guests arriving at but breakfast was plentiful.
Has afternoon tea on terrace in the sun in March - lovely view of lake, boats and hills.
Definately would recommend both hotel and area, hopefully going back again soon.

Room Tip: Right on lake, great location for walking.

We chose this hotel for a long weekend away mainly for the spa and the lakeside location. Neither disappointed. The hotel is well maintained and looks every part its four star rating. The room was large and clean, with an enormous bed and a room-width window looking out onto Lake Windemere.
We ate at the restaurant on our first night. The meal was very good, though pricey. The same could be said for the wine list, which was bordering on the extortionate. However, this is to be expected.
Breakfast was an impressive affair, especially if you only want a continental selection of pastries, fruit and mixed meats and cheeses. For a cooked option, there is an extra charge.
The pool and suite of sauna rooms is well maintained - clean and situated on a terrace overlooking the lake. It's really beautiful early morning and early evening, just as the sun is setting on the lake. We paid for a treatment at the spa, which was professional and relaxing.
Finally, the staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful.
Overall, this is a delightful hotel in an idyllic location. There are cheaper options out there, but I would happily spend the money on this hotel in future. No complaints.
