“Nice place to stay with great views.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

Just come back from an over night stay on Saturday 18th January. We where given room 231 which was a nice room apart from the only view you had out side was through a sky light window that you had to climb on a chair to look out of lol!

The tv in the room had no signal which we reported to reception and on the second time of reporting to reception some one attended our room and sorted the issue out.

On Sunday we where gobs smacked with the view over the lake as you sat in the dinning area where you had breakfast. Nice coffee and toast where provided straight away.... Then it took 20 minutes for our breakfast to arrive after asking the waiter... We felt like the couple next to us had been given ours by mistake within 5 minutes of them sitting down and then ours had gone on the missing list!

Would we go back...? Yes we would as it is a lovely hotel and bang in the centre to go looking around Windermere...

The location for this hotel is excellent, sitting right on the waterside.

Access could be a problem, were it not for the excellent valet service. Basically pull up outside and the hotel take your car away. Not sure how it works for a longer stay, but we had a single night and didn't need our car for the duration of our stay.

The staff were all first class and extremely helpful whenever we dealt with them. The leisure facilities are relatively small, but definitely worth a visit during your stay.

The room was a basic one, but nonetheless, the room we had was huge. Well laid out and extremely comfortable. I would judge it one of the best rooms we have had in a hotel. No view in our room, but I'm sure you can pay extra for that.

Because the differential between the meal and room was so different I have reviewed them separately.

After previous stay decided t use the conference facilities and the hotel for a business meeting with an overnight stay. The meeting room is excellent with great views over the kale. The room was well set up and Coffee breaks and lunch always perfectly on time. The twenty three delegates all enjoyed their stay and commented on how comfortable and clean their rooms were. The lounge is comfortable and inviting and made a lovely location to meet pre dinner. My comments would be that the bar is a little pricey (I am used to London prices) and the draught lager was flat on both evenings. I also echo the comments from previous reviewers that the bathrooms just require a little updating and modernising. In room 203 we had a lovely big room with separate lounge but the bathroom was cramped to say the least. Probably getting to old to have to stand in a bath to have a shower. That aside, excellent staff, reception brilliant and the conference organisation very thorough. I think we shall all look forward to returning.
Many Thanks

An excellent hotel in a perfect location right on the lake. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff. Special mention to Vanessa and Mollie on reception who made organising a surprise meal very straight forward and couldn't do enough for us. Also Connor the barman is very good and very helpful. We had room 315 which is part of the extended wing. It's a superb view of the lake from here, although the bathroom is now looking a bit dated (although very clean). Pool facilities are excellent but access can be restricted at busy times. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was outstanding.

We had a lovely New Year at the hotel - one we know well from previous visits. 2 day event beginning on New years afternoon with afternoon tea with prosecco. Excellent dinner with lovely and innovative food and then all the usual events such as a bag piper, haggis and dancing. Following evening a good dinner with a nice choice. Lovely bedroom and very friendly and attentive staff. We walked both days and had a lovely time! will book for next year for sure!!

We popped in for a drink. Nice lounge with a beautiful Christmas tree. Staff all friendly and welcoming. However very expensive for drinks! My husband felt they were charging more than London prices!
The toilets in the reception were horrible. No toilet paper and quite dated and smelly.
