We visited beg. March, booked one double and one single, both adequate, beds were comfortable, but rooms much to warm, thermostats turned off rads in bedroom, but the rads in bathroom were uncontrolable. We had ground floor rooms, only problems, were once the draw curtains were opened no privacy from people strolling around gardens, they really needed voile or similar to give room occupants privacy daytime., also armchairs in bedrooms, needed a clean, grubby around arms through use. Dined in one night, meal was good, but done for presentation, but for those with a larger appetite, a charge of £2.50 ish was made for extra vegtables, which considering meal was set at £30, was a bit of a cheek, felt that they should be free of charge. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. But all things considered an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: For room privacy, 1st floor or above, but if you want to sit out tables and chairs are provided at g...

We stayed here on a KGB deal but paid for an upgraded garden room. Very comfortable hotel with a sense of history and pride. Lovely view of the Lake, although the weather was misty so did not get best experience.
We ate on the second evening. Excellent meal and well recommended to experience.
Only 15 mins walk into Bowness, might be difficult at night but great stroll during the day.

Room Tip: our room overlooked the front garden and drive way. VEry green outlook but would also consider Lake...

This is an enjoyable place to stay with luxurious fittings. The rooms are decent size and very comfortably furnished. Everything is very clean and the staff are courteous and helpful. It is expensive unless you get a deal of some sort but there are plenty of these about especially at off peak times.
However, I didnt think it warrants 5 stars. This is mainly because the only evening food available is a set priced £30 meal. We are walkers and like to eat healthily and dont need 3 courses - a main course is plenty but this meant driving into Bowness in the evening which was a nuisance. The breakfast is good but not enough healthy options really e.g the yoghurt is very high sugar. Also the shower is intermittent and the water in our room was taken after our first night and not replaced. So all in all a good place and you will not be sorry if you stay there but dont expect perfection.

Room Tip: lake view well worth the extra.

This is our fifth or sixth visit 8 years, and we'll definately be back again. We did a winter warmer break which was excellent value for money. The menu had changed which was nice to see and all the food was superb - this is the main reason we go. This time we stayed in a garden view room (always had standard previously which were fantastic). The room was very well presented and the lovely touches of luxury toiletries and champagne on arrival as part of the package were welcome additions. It was nice to see staff who had been there from our first visit and on speaking to them they were obviously there for the same reasons we return. A wonderful place for complete relaxation.

Room Tip: After a wonderful dinner all rooms are excellent.

We stayed at the Fayrer Hiuse on a Hotelshop deal for Dinner Bed and breakfast. The rooms were fine (upgraded to Lake view) and the meals all excellent, served in the very pleasant dining room. Best of all were the staff who were attentive without being intrusive and always cheerful and willing. Extras were pricey but what else do you expect in an upmarket hotel. Altogether a great little break very much enjoyed by us and our friends.

Room Tip: We had room 11 ,not huge but very nice, good view, nice chairs good bed and splendid bathroom.

We have just returned from a two day break at this hotel. It is beautifully furnished and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We upgraded to a superior room with a fabulous view of Lake Windermere. The room was very comfortable and clean, however the shower over the bath was just a trickle (our only complaint). The food was very good, well served and presented perfectly. We were on a KGB deal and were very satisfied with the deal we got. Would definately return if there are any offers in the future as full price would be out of our price range. A little taste of luxury in a beautiful setting!

Room Tip: The superior rooms are very spacious, but ask about a power shower before upgrading!

We stayed at the hotel on Sunday & Monday. When we arrived at the hotel in glorious sun we were greeted by the receptionist and taken to our room with great views of the lake.
Our room was very comfy with whirlpool bath/shower.The food quality good and service well presented although not a large choice the main menu same both nights we were there.
The staff were friendly and attentive. Shall be returning in the near future.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room
