Had a relaxing short break, booked through Travel Zoo. Very good location with views over the lake. Warm and friendly venue, tastefully decorated throughout, excellent food and superb service. No hesitation in recommending.

This hotel is a great place to stay. Can't fault anything to be honest everyone else has summed the hotel up in their reviews.
We arrived in Bowness and couldn't get to the hotel due to the amount of snow that was falling . The hotel is situated a mile outside of the main high street up a bank and lots of vehicles were struggling to make it to the hotels along that stretch of road. I rang the hotel and explained our predicament and they picked us up in a 4x4 vehicle leaving our vehicle in Bowness.
Great place ,Great food lovely clean room and friendly staff.
Get it booked you will not be disappointed !!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 5 which was a small but lovely room near to reception and the wifi worked in this roo...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and just wished we had more than one night. It is a lovely old country house hotel with great views of the lake and not far from Bowness. The cream tea on arrival was very welcome and we enjoyed this watching the snow falling over the garden. The evening meal was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, there were several little touches which made it very special from the canapes and 'pre-starter' to the homemade chocolates to finish. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice including piping hot kippers! The staff were wonderful, extremely friendly and helpful and did everything with genuine warmth, simply the best service I have ever had. We were snowed in the night we stayed and woke up to beautiful views of the sun shining on the snow covered gardens, very picturesque. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

We went for a weekend using a Travelzoo deal and weren't really sure what to expect for such a reasonable deal. Everything turned out to be far better than we expected and we can't wait to go back in the autumn.

The hotel isn't contemporary but the furnishings are homely, beautifully made and very tasteful. On arrival we were offered afternoon tea in the lounge where we sank into large squishy settees, piled high with cushions. The coffee and warm scone were lovely, as was the evening meal that night. I couldn't fault any of the food, beautifully cooked, plentiful and well-presented.

We stayed in room 7 which was close to all the amenities and quiet. It was large and very tasteful. The homemade biscuits and locally made toiletries were a very nice touch.
The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, all local people who could give advice on the area and seemed to genuinely want to do everything to make our stay a pleasant one.

There were lovely views of the lake from the hotel and the gardens seemed vast, albeit currently bleak which one would expect in February.

We arrived stressed and left feeling wonderfully rested and refreshed. I can't recommend it highly enough and we can't wait to return

Room Tip: We stayed in room 7 which was lovely. It didn't have a lake view but it was close to reception a...

We have stayed in some pretty good hotels on our travels but this one really does hit the spot!

Beautiful house in lovely gardens with a stunning view of the lake. The whole place was spotless and the service provided by extremely professional members of staff. WIthout exception every member of staff was polite and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome indeed.

Our room was upgraded on arrival (which we did not expect) and was very warm and comfortable. The food was outstanding and our compliments go to the chefs...well done!

Hopefully, we will be back before too long!

Stayed here last night with my partner and parents as a present for them all . Bedroom lovely and comfortable , extra pillows brought up when requested , bathroom small but ample , only downfall was no mirror within reach of hair dryer when drying hair (room 23) . Plenty tea , coffee , milk etc not just the usual 2 sachets . Afternoon tea was good served in lounge , very comfortable chairs , view would have been gorgeous if it wasn't raining but no ones fault . We used the leisure facilities at nearby hotel , given voucher on check in , very clean pool and facilities . Evening meal was first class , service excellent . All staff were very helpful , polite and pleasant , nothing was too much trouble . Breakfast was plentiful and several choices .
Would definitely visit again .

Stayed for one night (13th Jan) on special offer.
We received a warm welcome on arrival & after unpacking made our way to a comfortable lounge for an enjoyable afternoon cream tea.
Dinner (from 6.30pm) was taken in the slightly dated dining room but the service, good choice of menu & an excellent meal more than compensated for the decor.Breakfast was also of a good standard.
Our bedroom/bathroom (no 23) was on the small side but very clean & cosy. There were minor maintenance issues (dented door, loose bath panel etc) but these could easily be remedied.A few more coat hangers in the wardrobe would be useful.
Unfortunately, the weather was not kind as several inches of snow had fallen overnight. This & poor visibility denied us the chance to explore the grounds & views over Lake Windermere.
The hotel is in a good location & would be a good place to re-visit in the summer.
