My husband and and our wee dog had a lovely one night break last weekend and could not fault any part of our stay. The room was ideal for us in the cottage, the staff could not have been more friendly or done any more to make our stay perfect. The setting is beautiful overlooking Lake Windermere and although we only live locally, we plan to return.

Ok, if it's 5* luxury surroundings you're after...this isn't the place for you. But I found this hotel to have the most welcoming & attentive staff, wonderful food & a warm, clean & cosy bed for the night. Yes, the decor is rather tired, but don't let that put you off. It's a home from home, & I will certainly stay there again.

Visited for 2 nights in mid December for a party. Wonderful hotel with beautiful rooms - food was exceptional served by the most accommodating staff who made the stay perfect. The 6/8 course taster menu was one of the best meals I've eaten! Afternoon tea was fresh scones served with plenty of tea or coffee in the delightful lounge. Thanks to all the staff

This was our second visit to this lovely hotel and we weren't disappointed which often you can be when returning. We were there early November and had a very comfortable and warm room overlooking the garden. Facilities in the room were good , a nice touch, the home made biscuits which were topped up on our second day. We bought two travelzoo deals which at the time included cream scones, prosecco and tea or coffee each afternoon which we enjoyed in the very comfortable and warm lounge which had stunning views over the lake. Dinner was excellent with a good choice, very tasty and the breakfast was lovely as well, I usually opt for the full English and I wasn't disappointed. All of the staff we found to be very friendly, it was nice to meet one or two of the staff members we met a few years ago. Would we go back, of course we would !

Room Tip: We had a garden room, I suppose it would be nice to overlook the lake but of course you don't sp...

My partner and I went for dinner on a pre-Christmas deal and had a most enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly and attentive (without being intrusive),the service was prompt and efficient, and there was an excellent choice of dishes for all courses. The food was flavoursome and beautifully presented (even if substance was sacrificed for style in some instances),and the house wines were most acceptable. The dining room had a nice ambience and outlook, and the lounges were warm and comfortable.
We were served with canapes, amuse bouches, three courses, coffee and petit fours for £29.50 per person.Great value.
