“Very nice stay and food.”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Have just come back after enjoying a good nights stay at the ryebeck, we stayed dinner bed breakfast and the food was lovely some of the best I've had. The room was nice and the bed was huge, the grounds were impressive and provided a nice place to look at the scenery. The staff were good especially in the restaurant. Definitely looking forward to one day going back.

We booked this hotel through travel zoo on a promotion as it fitted in with our trip up to the Commonwealth Games. The hotel is situated on the top road just as you come out of Bowness , which is only a 2 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk.
The hotel itself is very impressive and has the feel of an old country estate but with a modern twist which can be seen in the extensive extensions on to the original building but the two do blend in very well and compliment each other .The hotel is set in approx. 5 acres of land and has the advantage of looking down on to Lake Windermere so you get a lovely view of the lake from the gardens and also the bedrooms if you are booked into the lakeside rooms.
We were slightly early checking in and so we took advantage of ordering scones and proseco ( part of the promotion we booked) which was served in the gardens by Jenna a lovely member of the staff , ( a real star ) who during our stay made us feel really at home ,nothing was to much for her and her attention made us feel quite special .
We were checked in at about 2.30pm by John another great member of the staff who again made us feel so welcome , so to both of you thank you for making our short stay so special.
We had booked a garden view room which was on the first floor . The room was lovely well decorated and had a king size bed , there was matching pine furniture and a supply of fresh coffee bags , homemade biscuits and tea. There was a flat screen tv ( a bit small for me ) but did the job whilst we got ready for dinner\breakfast.
We had the option of using the leisure facilities at a near by hotel but chose to walk down back into Bowness which was some 15 minutes walk ( be aware there is a 450 metre stretch of the road that doesn't have a footpath but remember you are in the Lake district which is walking country . After walking round Bowness and taking in the lovely view of the lake we went back to the hotel to get ready for our evening meal . We had pre booked for 8pm which was a good job as the hotel was full and the last seating was 8.30pm,
We had the option of a 3 course ( which was in fact a 5 course once we had sampled some speciality starters offered to us ) , again the staff in the dining room couldn't do enough for us even though they were very busy .
The evening meal was excellent I had opted for the crab tart and the fillet steak and deconstructed lemon chees cake, my wife opted for the fresh pasta , fillet steak and a different dessert ( cant actually remember what it was lol ) all of the food was top class , well cooked and well presented so again Ryebeck thank you. After dinner we sat in the lovely lounge and drank fresh coffee as we looked over the lake , we had intended sitting out on the patio next to the fountain but the weather had broke and it was in fact raining lightly ahh the british summer.
Next morning we went for breakfast which was served in the main restaurant over looking Lake Windermere, be warned you do not have to wait to be seated but you pick your own table and wait to be served , again the breakfast was both plentiful hot and you had a great selection to choose from .
We had intended to walk round the lovely grounds after breakfast but the rain had really a hold so we just sat and drank coffee and read the papers in the lovely cosy lounge.
Overall an excellent stay in a lovely hotel over looking Lake Windermere ,
Would we stay again YES , would we recommend the hotel YES .
There are so many positives to this hotel the view , the surrounds , the food but most importantly the staff everyone of them went out their way to ensure you had a great stay
Only negatives the small tv and possibly the gap between our bed and the wardrobe yes I did bang my knee.(but that would be being picky) thank you all and we will return next time we are in the Lakes

If you want something ie extra milk coffee , iron and ironing board just ask they cant do enough for you again thanks Jenna and John.

Room Tip: Garden view is over looking the gardens ( not actually in the gardens) lake view over looks the lake...

Just returned from an overnight stay with friends at this hotel. We were all very impressed with the standard of service and cleanliness. .

The staff go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay.

The food was first class

Our only negative was that in the disabled room we had booked, the access to the toilet was not enough as the handrails were positioned badly, although once we reported this to the management we were assured that they would look at it.

We would definitely return for another visit.

Room Tip: There are Garden rooms & Lake Rooms - this is the view you have.

Stayed here after booking through secret escapes. Room was nice enough with lovely view over Windermere. Bathroom although recently refitted had cracked tile in floor and grout coming out. One window was painted shut in our room which was a shame. Just a few little things really let it down... No milk or toiletries in room, apparently they were very busy and had forgot. The meal was very nice although if staying there over 2 nights it would probably be a bit limiting as it's the same menu every night. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive. I would def return although it would have to be on a special deal again :)

We have just returned from a two night break to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we could not have been better looked after. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so friendly from the moment we arrived to when we left, advice was given freely on walks and places to visit and local knowledge of where to park etc. Our room was beautiful with views over the lake.
The meals were all amazing and so beautifully cooked and served by attentive staff, that made you feel special.
This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in and look forward to returning to it again.

We stayed here for an overnight on the way home from Lancashire. We were booked in for dinner , bed and breakfast. We had a great time and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing location in the lakes. You can walk into Bowness in 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace.Hotel is also close to Hawkshead ferry and the Windermere marina village.
Dinner was excellent and there was a good selection of reasonably priced wines. Breakfast was cooked to order....refreshing change to the usual buffet format. Our room was not a lake view room but was clean and comfortable. It's hard for us to be sure but I suspect that the lake views could be limited by the trees at the and of the grounds. The lake view from the front of the hotel was limited.
