“Excellent find for a no frills experience”
Reviewed 30 September 2011

Run by a nice couple they pack no punches just good wholesome home cooked fayre. They use local produce. She bakes nice scones invented rarebit with a twist added chilli jam nice. It's great for snacks and light lunches. If you just want a sandwich and soup try this one. She also makes a good hotpot. Only open during the day.

“Lovely & cost!”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

What a lovely little cafe...very quaint. Service was lovely, was a nice gentleman who served us. I had tea and the best (really) scone with jam & cream I have ever had. Was melt in the mouth! Great little place for lunch or a mid afternoon snack. Lovely!

“A real find!”
Reviewed 7 July 2011

Went here today for lunch, very polite and friendly staff. Both welcoming and attentive, something that's hard to find nowadays! Ordered afternoon tea for two which included a large pot if tea, sandwiches, slice of cake and cream teas each!! Fantastic value, and quality home made cakes and sandwiches! Plus the scones served with butter jam and cream were still warm, like they just come from the oven! Outstanding service and staff! We shall defiantly return on our next visit to bowness! Many thanks!

“Great little cafe with good atmosphere”
Reviewed 26 April 2011

We went to this little cafe which is set in in a little backstreet, we had a dog so we sat on the setting outside the front of the shop as the weather was nice. Staff came straight away to see if we needed any water for the dog as it was a hot day, we ordered our drinks and they came within a few mins. Owner is ver nice and chatty, coffees where delicious and we ordered two more. We have eaten here before and food was delicious but on this occasion we had eaten only an hour before so wasn't hungry.
Toilets are extremely clean and the ladies has a safe in the loo, when I asked the owner if it's the real deal they told me that they had it fitted as it was surplus to requirements from another bank down street, I joked and said that would be good to keep your toilet rolls in, they said that's what it holds toilet rolls, it was so funny.
Good food and drinks, good atmosphere, lovely place. Will defo go back again when next in Windermere.

“great breakfast”
Reviewed 26 April 2011

We popped into this cafe for a breakfast, while we were in the Lake District. Excellent service- plenty of tea and coffee, prompt and friendly service, and the best sausages I've had for a very long time! My husband had the full English Breakfast, and declared it excellent.
