Myself, husband, sister and brother in law visited on the 2nd April for an overnight stay, the hotel over looks Windermere, the staff are friendly and courteous, our rooms were lovely, clean with the little touches that states they care - slippers, robes, choc's on your bed when they turn it down. The hotel offers a small pool, sauna and gym unfortunately my sister had not read the small print and we had not brought our cozzies otherwise we would have been in. The food was delicious with the restaurant overlooking the lake and floodlighting allowing you go sit outside. Lovely olde world style complete with library and open fires, will be definitely returning - 5 stars

Room Tip: close to ferry to get you across windemere

The location is excellent, quiet but central. In the countryside but just walking distance from all that is happening at Bowness. Very convenient for the ferry about a quarter of a mile away.

The room had an excellent southerly aspect with a beautiful view of the gardens and the lake. The bar/lounge and sitting room were comfortable, light, well furnished and welcoming. The restaurant had nice views and table service was good.

Very welcoming staff who gave outstanding service in all dept.s all the time. The mini tour on arrival was very useful. We like the way the nothing was too much trouble and things were done straightaway. The attitude of staff made for a really comfortable stay just the right balance of friendly help, respect without being over formal. Everyone knew their job and how to do it well. No "ah but's" and plenty of "what ifs" from staff to make sure you got what you wanted.

Overall our best experience in years; we are already looking fro an excuse to go again.
If any improvement could be made the reception area might be rethought; at the moment it lacks a proper desk being just a room off the hall way.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room.

We recently had 4 lovely nights at Lindeth Howe Country House. We took advantage of the Travelzoo deal with the 5 course dinner and wine, also a full english breakfast, which we thought was an excellent deal!

I requested an upgrade to the Lake View room prior to us arriving if it was available. We were not disappointed and our room overlooking the lake was just perfect. A very large, comfortable King Size bed and a beautifully appointed bathroom with lovely hot showers (over the bath). The views from the windows gave us an exceptional vista of both the lake and the gardens surrounding the Guest House, so we enjoyed sitting there with our afternoon cup of tea enjoying the view.

We enjoyed our bottle of red wine downstairs in the bar area with a few canapes before dinner. Then we were taken into the dining room for the best taste sensations we have experienced for a long time! We chose the lamb, beef and venison as our main courses over our stay and the meat was cooked perfectly and just melted in our mouths! The rest of the courses were divine. The great thing was even though 5 courses sounds like a lot, the serves were not too big so you didn't feel as though you had overeaten.

Service to our room was excellent. Each night we had our bed turned down (whilst we were having dinner) with chocolates on our pillow. Also our tea and coffee's were topped up and cups washed up from our afternoon cuppa.

Only one minor thing was that the bar service was quite slow during the afternoon. A few times I found myself waiting to an unmanned bar, only to have to go and track down a staff member to serve me.

In summary we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lindeth Howe and could of stayed longer. We will definitely be back again - hopefully it won't be raining as much. However, we did not let that spolt our stay in the Lake District.

Room Tip: Request an upgrade to the Lake View room !

Well, what a fantastic stay! We found a special deal on the internet for a one night stay. It included afternoon tea when we arrived and 5 course dinner, bed and breakfast.
The location was very tranquil, just a short walk from lake Windermere. The rooms were spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was 1st class and beautifully presented.
I find it very difficult to find anything bad to say about our stay. Everything was lovely and I'm hoping to find another like deal!
The only thing I can say is that a little background music in the dining room during dinner would be nice to complete the ambience.
Thank You to all at Lindeth Howe for making our stay so memorable!

I stayed at the Lindeth Howe for one night at the weekend and had a pleasant stay here. We booked an offer through Zoo travel which included the 5 course meal, a bottle of wine, afternoon tea and a full english breakfast.
When we arrived the girl on reception asked us if we wanted red or white wine to be sent to our room but we asked if we could have it with our meal which wasn't a problem.
We booked for dinner at 8pm and were told to wait in the lounge before dinner until we were taken through to the restaurant. We arrived in the lounge around 7.45pm and the maitre d was serving canapes to a couple at a table next to us. There was a menu at our table which said the maitre d will be over shortly to take your drinks order and then return with a selection of canapes. Despite trying to catch his eye on several occassions, at least 3 parties that entered the lounge after us were served their drinks, canapes and taken through to the restaurant while we were waiting. Obviously we were earlier than our 8pm table but we would've appreciated drinks while we were waiting. In the end another waiter came to serve us at 8.20pm and it wasn't long before we took our seats in the restaurant. At this point we were both quite peeved, the food however more than made up for our wait! All courses were delicious but we particulary enjoyed the deserts which were just outstanding.

The room was very clean apart from a grubby looking bed cover and a couple of armchairs that were a bit stained on the cushions. The bathroom and towels were immaculate, as were the bed sheets. The room had everything you would need such as a hairdryer, trouser press, tea and coffee facilities, tv and iron (our iron didn't work and when we asked reception for a replacement we received one within 5 minutes).

Our experience with the maitre d was most likely a one off and all the other staff were very helpful, but a little on the miserable side- a smile goes a long way in customer service. The room was comfortable and overall I would definitely recommend the Lindeth Howe, mainly because of the wonderful meal which made our weekend.

Room Tip: Amazing food, comfortable stay

Dear english_f,

Thank you for your lovely review of Lindeth Howe. I am so sorry we missed you in the lounge; this is certainly not our usual standard at Lindeth Howe. This was a mistake, which should not have happened, and I understand was a communication error on our part. We as a team try to exceed our guests’ expectations and unfortunately have missed this on your occasion.

I am really pleased you enjoyed our food at Lindeth Howe, and especially the desserts, which I am a little partial to myself. I have passed on your kind comments to our team.

At present we are in an upgrading process with our bedrooms, including new duvets and furnishings, which hopefully you will experience when you return soon.

Please keep an eye on our website for our last minute offers and we look forward to welcoming you back to Lindeth Howe soon.

Kindest Regards,

Alison,

Spent two great nights here with friends!Great deal from travelzoo however it made no difference to the service which was excellent and without fault! Rooms probably need a bit if updating but clean and spacious! Only fault was with the pillows, they were too soft!! Restaurant was very good! Overall enjoyed stay and location was perfect!!
