“Wonderful homely location”
Reviewed 1 June 2013

We stayed for two nights at this hotel, and would have to say it was most comfortable, clean and quiet. It was the tyoe of hotel where you could sit around all day and not leave.

Breakfast was good although while we were there, they had a group of 40 swedish tourists staying, and the breakfast buffet was well picked over and not replenished unless we asked.

The bar staff and restaurant staff were lovely and friendly. In particular, a young lady called Dominika(?) who could light up the room with her smiles.

I would however highly recommend the small afternoon tea. We had it both days in place of lunch - just fabulous.

I have never written one of these before, but was so blown away by this hotel I felt I had to recommend it. We were booked in for an overnight stay with afternoon tea, 5 course dinner, bed and breakfast. The reception staff were both friendly and helpful. Really comfortable room with a view over gardens to the lake. Lovely light afternoon tea with a glass of champagne in the sunny lounge. Dinner was amazing - so impressed - literally one of the best meals I have ever eaten in a hotel anywhere. The chef is really something special! Every course was exceptional - and the amuse bouch had really interesting flavours. The service was impeccable, sleek, unobtrusive and efficient, yet friendly and keen to help if asked - very professional. Nobody repeatedly interrupted us whilst eating with, "Is everything all right for you?" Bliss! It was all right, it was delicious. Breakfast was equally great, the dining room is beautifully decorated, and the choice of food was vast from cold to hot cooked. Go visit this hotel if you are going to the lakes you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs to the top floor, but you get great views. Ask for a lake/garden view.

Had a one night stay, which was a mistake. It should have been two. Fine restaurant with excellent service at Dinner and Breakfast. The rooms were beautifully appointed with everything you could ask for.Only one criticism. Whilst the lighting in the rooms is very pretty, it needs one big light for ladies to put on their make up.

My husband and two friends went to Lindeth Howe for an overnight stay some weeks ago. What a beautiful place. Authentic, classy and very very comfortable. The food was outstanding and served by a multi cultural young staff who were happy to serve us and always with a smile! Lindeth Howe is everything you expect from The Lake District - classy, peaceful, stunningly beautiful and glorious food . We loved it!!

Room Tip: All rooms are good I am sure but we had a room overlooking the lake and the hotel's back garden...

Spend last weekend at Lindeth Howe on a Travelzoo voucher break. I must admit I thought for the price we paid it was going to be fine but nothing special. How wrong was I !!!!!. We had a fantastic stay at this Country House Hotel with everything from service to food presentation exceeding our expectations. It started with afternoon tea which arrived with choice of sandwiches, warm scones with cream and jam and cakes plus excellent glass of champagne. But that was just the start as the tasting menu at dinner was to die for with quality and presentation being as good as any 5 star cruises we've been on. Special mention must go to Warren and Antonio who give us excellent service during our meal. Forgot to mention they also have pianist on Saturday night during dinner.
All rooms are great but I would elect for deluxe if you want to enjoy views of the lake. Breakfast on Sunday was freshly cooked with presentation being again spot on. This place is a real find and reviews are testament to pride they take in this small hotel. Will I be back you can guarantee I will and plan to return in September with my parents. Travelzoo do promotions for Lindeth Howe couple times a year which are great value but hotel does it own specials so get signed up on their website. If you're planning to visit the Lakes and stay in Bowness go to this hotel as you will not be disappointed and will be converted into repeat guest like rest of us on Trip Advisor. Thank you team at Lindeth Howe for great stay

Room Tip: Recommend deluxe room or suite to take in wonderful views of the lake

Bought the TravelZoo voucher for a one night stay including afternoon tea and 5 course meal and it was worth every penny. The hotel is beautiful, very tastefully decorated, with loads of sofas to sit and enjoy the view, read the paper and just relax. The afternoon tea was delightful (warm scones mmmmm) and the evening meal was fabulous. Upgraded to a deluxe room with stunning views of lake Windermere (bed was built up on a platform so you can see the views whilst laid in bed - no need to shut the curtains!). 10 min walk to the car ferry across to Hawkshead so perfect location for good walk. Would definately recommend to others and I'm now keeping an eye out for another voucher deal so I can book again for myself and for parents as an anniversary present.

Room Tip: We had Room 204 which had fab views of the lake
