Enjoyed a one night special offer from Travel Zoo the room was nice in the evening we had a three course dinner and a free bottle of wine. The food was good and the service was very good nice friendly staff.
The breakfast was very good lots of choice we had a great fry up it was very tasty. The Hotel is close to the Bowness and in easy walking distance. The whole experience was good we enjoyed it and it was great value.

Room Tip: We had a standard room but if i went back i would upgrade to a better room.

As we have a variety of different rooms, when you visit us again , let the reception team talk you through the rooms with you.
We are sorry that you found your meal on the 2nd night to be too garlicky, and we have mentioned your thoughts to the chef.

My wife and I stayed for two nights in April, and after reading the reviews, decided to go for the Mews room; wow! the room was fabulous, large and very clean, extremely happy with the room. Lixurious bathrobes, and slippers, a separate sitting room, and we were extremely impress.
We had chose the DB&B option so on the first evening (Friday), the meal was excellent. On the second evening, it must have been a different chef, as my wife had chosen the vegetarian option of Roasted medeteranean vegatable dish, and it was so laced with garlic, my wife couldn't eat it. Why do some chefs do this? The service was much slower than the Friday night; This spoilt the overall experience.
I would strongly recommend the hotel, but not sure whether the DB&B option was the economical, as the menu chose for vegetarions was very limited.
One point the hotel should address is the fact that on the first evening, we were sat at a table located right in front of the fire exit, which I was uncomfortable with, even though there was another door more suited as a fire exit.
On the whole an enjoyable break

Room Tip: The Mews room is superb

We absolutely loved this place. A small, yet lovely family run B&B. This is what holidays in Britain are about. The staff were lovely and friendly. We had the three course dinner which wasn't bad at all, and the breakfast was hearty and filling. It's located two minutes walk from Lake Windermere in a pretty village. Great value

Stayed here on travelzoo offer which included 3 course dinner with overnight stay. We stayed in room 24 which was in the building opposite the reception/dining room. 1st impressions when we walked into the reception was looks nice enough but maybe a little tired and old fashioned. Our room was clean with a super kingside bed, adequate for a one nights stay. Meal was lovely and staff were very helpful and pleasant. Couldn't fault them in anyway. Hotel is very close to town and lake within 5-10 minute walk. All in all had a great stay.

First impressions as you drive up to reception may make you feel that the hotel is a little "tired". But once you get to reception you will find a warm welcome. We stayed in a Garden Room which was just the job for a couple of nights, it was roomy and it's private veranda was lovely, the beds comfortable and it was very clean. There were a few things I could pick at but we thought it great value for money! The lounge and dining room were nicely decorated and lovely and comfortable, very relaxing and just the job after a days walking. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful accompanied by an excellent bottle of wine. Breakfast the following morning was 5* with lovely views of the garden and it's fine selection of visiting birds. There is no need to use your car as there is plenty of walks directly from the hotel. We recommend staying here for a few days at least.

We had a wonderful weekend stay here in April 2013. The Burn How is a beautiful place to stay and relax. Beautiful Gardens and lovely comfortable and peaceful rooms, all a couple of minutes walk from bustling Bowness and right on the doorstep of the Fells. The Breakfasts were delicious and set you up nicely for a good walk and the dinner in the restaurant was a good treat too. We had wonderful service and a great stay, can't wait to visit again soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 18 which was very quiet and had a four poster bed.

Just stayed at the Burn How for one night. It was brilliant.

Location is ideal - just a short walk from Bowness and lake Windemere. There is a nice little pub in case you want to have a drink in the evening (as not much going on in hotel bar) which is short walk away.

The food was outstanding - we had breakfast and evening meal here and if really was impressive.

The room was nice - nothing fancy but a nice room and very clean.

The staff are lovely and really helpful.

Would definitely return to this hotel!!
